Heero should be the one thinking it's all surreal. To be honest, despite his outer calm and efficiency, there was a part of him that was reeling from all the logical inconsistencies that he'd run into over the course of the last few days. It was somewhat reassuring that the others were here as well, but decidedly less so that he had apparently been here before and yet failed to recall any of that experience. Being disconcerted would do him little good, however, so his training had kicked in instinctively, and he focused on determining his immediate priorities and going on from there. Right now, that meant establishing contact with the only allies he could trust here (or almost anywhere for that matter) and gathering what information he could from their time here ( ... )

Duo couldn't keep in the giggles that bubbled up when he saw Heero jump into action, the quick draw of his gun before Duo's voice had registered with him. He knew this would be the reaction- this, or getting socked in the face. This was slightly more preferable, since Heero wouldn't shoot without a confirmation, and not once he realized who it was, and wouldn't have Duo ending up with a sore cheekbone.

All at once Duo flickered into view, his presence revealed, with that wide grin and amusedly snapping eyes and yes, that braid swung over his shoulder like a rope. He was leaning forward slightly, still just beside Heero's shoulder, and that gun was cocked against the middle of his forehead.

Totally and completely unconcerned.

"Always so dangerous!" he taunted, chiding with a gently irritating, relaxed voice. "It's been a little while, hasn't it, buddy?" He didn't move yet. Waited for Heero to retract the gun, a sign of permission to go ahead and 'at ease', so to speak.

To his credit, Heero's only reaction to seeing his fellow pilot materialize out of thin air was an infinitesimal lift of one eyebrow. He had already reasoned that it was probably the power that Duo had gained with this new place. Knowing that intellectually did not make it any less disorienting, but like everything else, it would have to suffice for now ( ... )
