The Gift Table

[ There's a long and narrow table sitting by the front door. A large 'Happy Birthday Andromeda!' signs sits on it along with yellow and purple birthday hats. Two gifts are already present on the table. ]

Gentle nudge to Nymphadora!

[You'd better believe that Andromeda is trying to casually side-eye that table without anyone figuring her out. She is wearing a purple party hat, though.]

[ Tonks knows what you're doing Andromeda if only because she does the very same thing. ]

You have to wait!

[ What did Tonks get her mother? The two photographs that Ron gave her have been framed. They're wrapped. Tonks also got her mum a sheer purple scarf with silver-threads shot through. ]

[She considers 'but it's my birthdaaaay', but refrains.]

[She grins.]

Guests at the party

[ Ginny had been tipped off about this by Tonks. She's bringing with her a very large glass bowl, inside of which is a rhubarb crumble she made. She thought there'd be plenty of cake as it was, and besides which after all the Christmas food she'd wanted to make something different. She's also got a gift bag over her arm for Andromeda. Ginny hadn't been at all sure what to get her, but had at last opted for a pair of earrings. ]

Happy birthday, Andromeda! I hope you're having a good day.

[If the wide grin on her face is any indication, she's having a very good day.]

Thank you, dear. Your dessert looks like it's a good change from the pumpkin pasties we've all been stuffing ourselves with.

[ She sets the pie down on the table, and offers Andromeda the present. ] This is for you.

I could never make them, personally.

[She takes the present with a nod, handling it carefully.]

That was very thoughtful of you, love.

[And Snape came by. Again. Perhaps expecting to see some of Andromeda's gentleman called drop by? -- No, not likely. Family affair. But a housemate and friend was rare enough and he dropped a small gift off at the table and... did as Snape was want to do; ignore most everybody.]

[ Yeah, Tonks isn't just going to let him ignore everybody. (troll) ]

[ Look who made it on time this once! Apparently just to hover pretty uncharacteristically somewhere in the back of the room. But he's toting a slice of the thin-crust and an unassuming stance. ]

[People that she's surprised to see: Dick.

No, really -- she definitely wasn't expecting to see him again. Her dates are clearly just destined to end abruptly and awkwardly.

Does this mean her daughter invited him? Oh, maybe she knows.]

...Did Nymphadora tell you the party was at five, then?

[Apparently she's going to go for the 'awkward teasing' strategy.]

You caught me. It was three-thirty. [ And there's a careful little smirk. She's talking to him, that's a good sign. ]

I really wasn't expecting you.

[She smiles in what she's hoping isn't a completely awkward way. She knows he felt awful, she's just surprised he hadn't written off seeing her again out of some sort of silly pride or embarrassment or whatever else she thinks Wes must have felt.]

[Another member of the Weasley clan is present and accounted for at the gathering. One prettily wrapped gift is firmly (still) in hand as he wanders about the party, grinning like the fool he is.]

[ Tonks slips up behind George. There's a birthday hat in her hand and there doesn't seem to be a birthdate hat on George's head. This needs to be rectified! ]

[George's knees buckle slightly in reflex at something being placed on his head- with Freddie, could easily be something explosive and all- but laughs when he figures out what it is.]
