Christmas had broken the pattern. New Year wasn't going to be so lucky.
When people started running, he pushed through the crowd in the opposite direction.
"Damn it, get out of the way! Let me see--"
And then he was through, and he saw them. Weird, Ghost of Christmas Future style robed figures with hourglasses hanging from them and scythes in their hands. And they were going for the New Year's Ball, because why the hell not? Of course, the first thing that creepy zombie bearded guys are gonna go for is the shiny New Year's Ball. Obviously. He sent a telekinetic blast at the nearest one, hoping to get the attention of the masses.
"Hey uglies! I don't remember inviting you."
Just great.

That wasn't enough. Julian knew that, but he couldn't do a whole hell of a lot about the others when he had two on his tail.
"Damn it. You guys have the shittiest timing, you know that?"
Those scythes were gonna be a problem first and foremost. On instinct, he aimed his powers at the scythe that the first one was holding, and tried to push it round. If it worked, he was hoping to get the first ugly to impale the second one. He didn't know what that would do, or if he'd even be able to control the scythes, but he was up for trying.

The second Father Time, the one with the now limp, useless arm doesn't bleed or cry out or make any note of it except an emotionless glance. It was now carrying the scythe in one hand, putting it quite a bit off-balance. It was obviously not capable of healing itself, and perhaps too old and tired after a long year to acknowledge the pain.
Meanwhile, the first one, was already starting to head towards Julian again. It was gripping its scythe tighter now.

Julian set his jaw. He backed up a bit, trying to get more space. They were wounded, but still coming after him, and there were more out there.
Julian hated even thinking that he might need backup. But there were too many of them. Damn it, he had to try and contain this.
Screw that. He could handle it.
"If you can bleed, you can die."
This time he reached for debris from some of the damage they'd caused. He grabbed it with his powers and flung it into the one that was coming closer to him, then focused on the one he'd injured. He tried to throw it back, concentrating his power on its hurt arm.

"Watch out, there's more of them! We need to stop them or they'll tear the street up!"
He feinted to the side, but felt a white-hot slice go through his skin when the scythe hit his arm. That hurt like hell, but he could deal with it. He turned to the creature that hit him with a snarl, and sent a heavy wall of telekinesis against it. He wasn't just trying to block it now. He was trying to pull it apart. He was done playing games.

The other took the opportunity to try to attack Lyra, swinging its scythe sideways, the attack having drawn its attention to the girl.

Let's see how they liked it. Julian pushed off the ground and used his powers to propel himself hard towards the Father Time's back. He was just hoping to knock it off course.
"Lyra, take it out!"

Of the two that Julian were dealing with - the uninjured monster was knocked off its feet by the debris and a little out of it. The other, with the injured arm, was thrown back. It's arm snapped clean off, and rather than falling to the ground, the arm simply faded into nothingness as it fell.

He reached to grab Sofia's hand.
"Sofia, combine your powers with mine. Hit it as hard as you can!"
He did the same, aiming a powerful glowing green blast at the already injured Father Time.

"Did you see where they came from?" she asked, her concentration still on the fight.
