Sanji wasn't up to much himself, but the holiday had little actual meaning for him to worry about. He had been out and about delivering presents to those he was able to see in person, and feeling pretty proud of himself for making so many of his lady friends happy. Now that it was later in the evening he figured it was safe to go around the MAC to find anyone he had missed, so there he was, not just passing through but on his way to Maggie's flat to give her his gift. His fist paused in mid-air before knocking as he heard the sounds from within. "M-Maggie? Miss Maggie?" he called out, instantly worried. Chivalry senses tingling! Instead of knocking, he tried the door just in case she was in trouble.
Maggie stopped, squeaking as she tried to swallow. She didn't move--she couldn't let anyone see her like this. But then she heard someone trying the door--heard Sanji calling out to her.
She knew him well enough that if she didn't respond, he'd think something was wrong and kick down the door or something.
"Just..." she swallowed, trying to find her voice, "Just a minute!"
She dried her face and tried to make sure she looked vaguely presentable--she didn't want to bother him with her problems. She opened the door--but of course she was still splotchy and eyes were glazed. She did her best attempt of, I'm just casually opening the door look, but it was obvious she'd just been crying. "Hi Sanji."
To his credit, Sanji didn't recoil. He only took a polite step back, holding the gift (it definitely had the look of a book) to his chest. "Maggie? Is everything all right?" he asked, certainly worried.
She forced a way too bright and obvious smile. "I'm fine," she replied. She opened the door wider and waved him in. At least the place smelled like cookies. "I have something for you, actually," she said, turning into the kitchen and avoiding eye contact.
