I'm so sorry.
(((ooc: ok to 4th wall? She wouldn't make a big deal.)))

[She blinks, taking a half-step back and then managing a smile.]
I think that would've been both our faults, really -- so don't worry too much. Crisis averted, as they say.

It's fine, but thank you.
[Once she shoves her communicator into her pocket again, it's much easier to manage the other two things.]

Gil groans loudly, glaring at his lighter as if it's offended him. ]

[It isn't as if she's in such a huge hurry that she doesn't have time to help out a fellow smoker.]
Don't have a spare, I'm guessing. I can give you a light, if you'd like.

Not at all.
[She has to fumble with her coffee and cigarette for a moment before she can pull out her wand and set the tip aglow for him to light his cigarette from, but she manages after not too long.]

Mum!
[ Tonks stops dead in her tracks, like a deer in headlights. Collision narrowly averted or not? ]

Oh, Nymphadora! I almost spilled my coffee all over you.
[In fact, she did manage to splash some over the edge of the to-go cup and on to the floor, but not onto her daughter.]
I was thinking of running over to your place tonight, dear. Did you get the other girls' opinions on the housing options?

[ Is this where she gets it from? ]
Yeah, I did. Luna adores the fixer-upper. Hermione doesn't seem to have much of a preference.

Well, you know my opinion -- if she's willing to put the work into fixing it, I think it would be nice to have a -- customized flat.

He would spot her, noting how many things she seemed to be doing at once. It seemed awfully unhealthy, doing so many things. She could hurt someone, but he supposed she must be awfully busy. How nice it must be.]
You should really watch where you walk, you could get hurt. There are metal monsters all over.

I'm not too worried about the cars, really. I try to look up before I get to the curb, at least.
[Since she's now speaking to someone, she sticks the communicator into one of her pockets. Now she's only doing one thing with each hand, which is a little more manageable.]
Thanks for the concern, though. I suppose I should be more careful...

It is good to err on the side of caution, if you can.
You must be awfully busy to feel compelled to do all of those things at once while also attempting to make it to your destination. Late for something?

[She flashes him a small smile.]
I'm not usually a fan of being bored - although I think that people-watching is also a good way to pass the time.
[She just happens to be on the way to work, that's all. She always gives herself plenty of time to get there, though.]

Hey.
[She walks over with the food once she spots him, sporting a sort of sympathetic-but-attempting-to-hide-it smile.]
I made far too much stew last night, and I didn't want it to sit at my place.
[This is actually true; she has not yet mastered the art of single-serving meal preparation.]
It's edible, at least.

Is there some sort of inane custom about bringing over food as a condolence?

[She shrugs her shoulders, then adds after a moment,] When my husband was confirmed dead, I didn't want to cook for days. I didn't really want to eat, either, but I think it just made me feel worse in retrospect.
