Raven had no idea. It wasn't just that Tonks' mother had shown up. Andromeda brought the future with her. To put it simply, there were a lot of spoilers ( ... )

Raven forced herself to stand up a bit straighter as the door opened, and nodded at Tonks at the greeting. "I said I would, so here I am. Took a while to explain things to Charles, really." She shrugged as she stepped into the room, looking around.

Raven was in a pair of jeans and a grey blouse, though whether they were real or shape-shifted was anyone's guess. She covered her mouth to stiffle a yawn and then grinned at her friend, moving to sit down on the couch without so much as a by-your-leave because standing up was exhausting at this point.

"So...your mom, huh?

Tonks brought Raven over a glass. The bottle and Tonks' own cup was sitting on the coffee table. She wasn't bothering with shot glasses.

She sat down next to Raven. "Yeah, my Mum. You're lucky. It's just your brother." Tonks reached for her glass. "D'you know how far ahead he is or you are yet?"

"Thanks," Raven took the glass and leaned over to the table to pour some lovely booze into it, then leaned back into the cushion and tugged her legs up under her.

"Not a lot. Maybe a day?" Raven shrugged and took a sip from her glass. "What about you two?

"Or he'll start with the flirting and making eyes straight away. You can never tell really..." Tonks yawned again. It was getting harder and harder to keep her eyes open.

She snuggled closer to Raven. By the time she had finished talking, Tonks was out of it and asleep.

Raven could tell that Tonks had drifted off, but she stayed still for a while, letting the other settle into what she hoped was decent sleep before she tried to move. A bit of shape-shifting allowed her to stretch her arm out enough to find the remote for Tonks's television, and she turned it on and muted it, bringing up the closed captions ( ... )

"Uh. Yeah, yeah I am. I mean, when I'm not...trying to be something else." She shrugged, not really sure what else to say and having no real idea how to interpret that little outburst.. "Blue is my...natural shape."-done-

"You were born this way? Wow. I wonder why blue and not some other color?" Tonks started to think about it and then swiftly realized she was being an ass. "Oh! Raven. I'm so sorry. I'm being a bit of a git about this."

"Only a little bit of a...git," Raven grinned faintly and looked down at her currently not-blue hands for a moment, fingers curling in on her palms. "I don't know. About being blue, I mean. Hank turned blue too. And that other mutant, Kurt, he's blue. It...could just be a mutation thing."

She knew Charles would've had some wonderful explanation about mutant genes and predispositions towards something-or-other that she didn't really understand, but to her, it was just probably a...thing. "Sometimes we're just born blue, I guess."

"I'm sorry for staring. I don't often see blue people. Well ( ... )

She could understand that. People could be gits and wankers and everything bad to people who were different. Sometimes it was just about perceived differences and not anything else. "Do whatever makes you feel comfortable Raven. I won't tell anyone." So far, she had not told anyone that she had found another Metamorphmagus. That is how Tonks thought of Raven. Raven could call herself a mutant as much as she wanted but that word, thanks to a certain portrait, left a bad taste in her mouth.

"Who's Erik?" Tonks did not remember Raven having mentioned him before.

Raven didn't answer at first, considering what Tonks was saying. In a way it was tempting, really...to have someone else that she could completely relax around. On the other hand it was rather awful, really, if Tonks was just humoring her or being kind. Still ( ... )
