Once he was sure, absoultely sure, that there weren't going to be any more surprises, Jack finally gave in. He staggered and stumbled back to his battered car, climbed in, and collapsed in the seat. It had been three days since he'd had a full night's sleep.

Outside the car, his officers gave him a wide and quiet berth. Inside, Jack thought about the City, his life in it, and what had just happened. Then, he slowly leaned back and closed his eyes.

Also giving the officers a wide berth was Sanji. He was on cloud nine anyway, his arms around no less than three of the girls who'd fought for him - the rest were clustered around him. They were headed off the battlefield to...unwind. "No, no, of course I wouldn't. I promise! As long as you ladies don't disappear on me in the meantime. I'd love to get to know you better! Ahahaha...sure, let's do that. Come on..."

Geddoe sat on a curb near the Porter building, having heard that the surrender had been made and the war officially over. Normal police officers and the other strangely-helpful civilians were rushing in to clean up the last of it, so the mercenary captain decided to leave them to it and get some rest.

He was out of spells again. Three straight days of exhausting himself. At least he wasn't injured, though the lingering strain from the bunker raid a week before was starting to show. He just sat silently, breathing hard, sweating even. At least it was over, he didn't have to watch his back anymore...yet, he still did.

The little vehicle startled him, but Geddoe was quick to recognize the voice and eyes of the young man who had helped him months ago in his darkest hour. He raised a gloved hand in a tired wave. "Fine," he assured. "Unless you've got a bite to eat on you somewhere."

it was his true rune plot back last summer trueltning_fury May 22 2011, 20:39:14 UTC
Geddoe pondered it for a moment. "Is there any in distance?"

He started to push himself up, but he was just too damn tired and his left arm ached. He sagged back down on the curb with a sigh. "Damn. I suppose I have no choice. If you can..."

"Yeah. Fine." Geddoe rested his elbows on his knees and actually took off his gloves for once, leaving them resting across a thigh. It didn't matter if people saw the runes now, he was finally getting over the habit of hiding.

The big mercenary perked up considerably, smelling the food, even if it was the greasy and fast kind. He actually kind of liked it that way. "You are a godsend," he murmured gratefully as he pulled out a sandwich and set to right away. He stuffed his face for a bit first, and then glanced up at the youngster. "Do you want...? I have some money," he offered. "To pay you back."

"I owe you for this."

Geddoe bolted down the rest of the sandwich, but moved on to the rest more slowly. He remembered that the kid was a healer, even if he didn't know his name. "Taking care of people after the battle?" he wondered between bites of chicken.
