MALL ATTACK #1 killerjoke February 5 2011, 20:41:28 UTC
[Piled in SUVs and vans, the lackeys all double checked their weapons. Each one of them had automatics or shotguns, prepared to take out as many people as possible. It was a sick job but they had been paid good money, really good money, so most of them could be a little sick for that. Pulling into the parking lot two dozen men or so all geared up for what was probably going to be the most violent shooting spree any of them would be involved in.]

Two hours and a series of frantic phone calls had barely been enough to get the mall evacuated and locked down before the attack could begin, especially while making it look like it was still open. The police wanted to nail the Joker's men, and had turned the massacre into a trap. A moment after the would-be mass murderers entered the mall lobby, Import officers and native SWAT appeared on the second floor, aiming down at them from the railing ( ... )

Seras snarled and returned fire. Idiots! They didn't stand a chance with all of STARS here. She zeroed in on one of the mercs in particular as he dived behind a cellphone stand for cover. Using her third eye Seras aimed and sent a bullet straight through the stand and right into the man's chest. Unfortunately, since she'd been forced to leave the Harkonnen behind due to the collateral damage issues she'd had to use a far less powerful rifle. The result was while the bullet found its mark it didn't have enough energy to penetrate through the gunman's vest.

It did however knock him on his rear and give him a hell of a scare, enough so that he scrambled to his feet and tried to put some distance between him and Seras.

It didn't take a genius to figure out that he was under fire but his face didn't show any signs of revealing fear or the like. Sheldon takes his position behind a counter and begins to open fire to buy time for the others to get through and inside the mall. As being a member of S.T.A.R.S. also meant having to deal with all the thankless altruism that goes with it.

Quietly, he picks off his targets that he knew that others might not catch. Shooting one off a balcony wasn't that hard for him. "One."

Manchester was having a cigarette outside near the parking lot when he saw the vans and SUVs pull up. Instincts told him to get out of sight, so he made himself vanish via telepathic illusion before the men saw him. He scanned their minds. He'd have to dig deeper to get more precise information, but what he picked up with a precursory scan was enough. They had been hired to kill as many as possible.

He was supposed to meet up with K.K. any minute now. Fortunately, telepathic communication was silent to everyone but other telepaths.

/K.K.? Where are you? There's a situation. It involves roughly twenty four armed men who want to turn the shopping mall into a bloody shooting gallery./

Bam.

One of the SUV's tires all simultaneously burst in a flash of purple light. And there, stalking up through the parking lot was a woman in a leather jacket, the word FreakAngels emblazoned on the back. Her eyes were glowing the same bright violet. Her voice, even telepathically, sounded very English and very irritated. Apparently she'd picked up the same murderous thoughts.

Manchester! Hey, over here!

Hope you guys don't mind me jumping in here. nightmarecause February 6 2011, 22:43:36 UTC
Having been out exploring, the sudden sound of tires bursting jolted Darkrai out of his curiosity for how all things worked in this world and he looked around for the source of the sound, spotting it all too quickly-- Spotting men with what even he recognized as weapons too.

He narrowed his eyes then- If they used those things here, people could get hurt. Children could get hurt. And he wasn't about to let that happen. It seemed as if someone was on it already, but that didn't stop him from sneaking closer, intending to help if that was necessary.

ZOO killerjoke February 5 2011, 20:51:29 UTC
[Who didn't love animals? Cute, cuddly, lovable animals. Of course, some of them are dangerous predators, but even herbivores could be dangerous at the best of times. At the worst of times anything could be incredibly violent when it was dosed with some Joker Venom. Someone had dosed them all though, then let them all out. Sounds like a job for animal control. Or some animal themed superheroes.]

TV STATION HOSTAGE killerjoke February 5 2011, 21:08:11 UTC
[There were a lot of critics around these days, a lot of people that had opinions about what should or shouldn't be on TV these days. The Joker had very strong opinions on what should be on TV. Namely, he should be on TV. A small group of ten of his men had been assigned to make sure that happened this weekend. No one was allowed in or out of the TV station and the list of what could be played had been altered drastically. It was either videos of what the Joker had done, or other various annoying clips.]

[It was one of those semi-rare days where Thor was actually at the mansion, having no construction work to do and nothing else that required him to not be a thunder god. He didn't have a television in his own room, so he had it on here - a news channel promised that they would have up-to-the-minute information on any new terror attacks, which was good, because Thor wasn't prescient and knew very little about this purple-and-green-besuited mortal - while he heated up some mead for himself.

And then it became annoying.

Thor leaned out of the kitchen and frowned at the screen. This wasn't news. He changed the channel and changed it back, experimentally. Still not news. He shut it off and turned it back on, and rubbed his chin, and frowned harder - and went to find Bobbi.

He opened the lab door without knocking, though he rapped his knuckles on the doorframe belatedly, and hesitated a moment.]

I fear I must distract you from your work. A strange thing is happening, and I know not what it means.

[Bobbi looked up from her work -- analyzing the samples Vic Sage had given to her -- and quirked a brow at Thor as she peered over her glasses. After all the stuff on the news lately, she felt there was ample reason to be concerned when Thor appeared to be so alarmed.]

Oh, uh, sure thing, Thor. What's the matter?

[He turned and started back, explaining as he went.]

I was listening for reports of attacks on the city, but the program is replaced by-- in truth, it defies explanation.

[But when they reached the room, the screen was playing a scene of Jokeresque devious villainy. Thor, confused, crossed his arms.]

It seems to be restored. We--

[NOPE. A dramatic hedgehog reacted to the scene. Ten times in a row.]

SOMEONE'S POISONED THE WATERING HOLE killerjoke February 5 2011, 21:16:17 UTC
[The Joker loved water treatment plants. From one location you could put so many different things into the water. Just a handful of men and you could poison a entire city, sometimes more. Chuckling to himself, the Joker ordered his men about.]

Oh this will be fun! So many happy, smiley people.

[Eleanor surfaced at the edge of the river silently, the light from her helmet panning over the nearby pier as she bobbed there, adjusting to not being completely enveloped in water. She was in her diving suit, of course, just...going for the Rapture equivolent of a stroll in the park. Sometimes she just needed to be underwater, and the bath just wouldn't do.]

[She started to haul herself up along the edge of the peer when she heard a cackling voice and paused, hanging there as she listened. A shift clicked off her light, and she pulled herself up enough to peer over the edge to the nearby...that was a water treatment plant, wasn't it? And while she wasn't sure exactly what those men were doing, she was pretty sure she recognized the freak in the clown make-up. But she waited a few seconds, just hanging there, to try and figure out what they were doing.]

Let's get going, boys! This water isn't going to poison itself!

[Although, that would be a neat trick if it could. Maybe he could develop self poisoning water, somehow. He'd have to write that down to check out later.

The men did pick up their pace though, more concerned over the fact that their boss might kill them at any minute than any real desire to do their job.]

[Cass silently watched from the rooftop of one of the treatment plant's buildings. After the attack on the dojo, she'd followed some of the Joker's thugs to their rendezvous at the plant. And even the Joker himself was there.

She dropped down and slid into a dark corner. When one of the goons walked by, she reached out, covering his mouth and poking him in the neck with two fingers. He slumped to the ground, and she dragged the body into the darkness before darting off to get a position closer to the Joker.]
