Simulation: Urban Combat Scenario (STARS only) ctu_savior January 29 2011, 21:03:30 UTC
Objectives:
-Protect civilians
-Neutralize all hostilesWith that announcement, the Danger Room’s systems activated and STARS was plunged into a city at war. It appeared to be a street in Manhattan during a mild winter afternoon, but it was a little difficult to tell with everything around them getting shot, catching fire, or blowing up. Smoke and dust filled the air, and terrified civilians were either cowering around the team or fleeing for their lives. Many were wounded ( ... )

"Holy shit!" Sheldon ducked behind a nearby car and leveled his gun, 'feeling' for his targets but he's having a bit of trouble. Holograms are a bit out of his range for senses and the humming of the machinery is causing him to become slightly disorientated.

Sheldon took to the roof tops immediately. The further he was away from the ground, the better his chances were, or so he thought. At the call of training, Sheldon took the time off from his CIA work to come here. He's desk bound anyway and only looking for activity on the airwaves and information circles, he was becoming a bit bored.

Firing his weapon at various opponents, Sheldon's aim didn't falter from the fact that he was still disorientated from the buzzing although he did miss once or twice from his vantage point that alerted others of his presence.

"Captain Bauer!" Seras shouted as Jack's body hit the ground. It might have been a simulation, but for the moment she forgot that and got lost in how much it twisted her up inside to see that. She shook her head and looked over the situation. She needed to get the team out of this safely. It was what he would have wanted her to do.

Snarling she aimed her Harkonnen down range at one of the armored vehicles and opened fire on it, intending to give the rest of the team enough to get themselves into better positions to start fighting back. "Everyone spread out like the Captain said! Now!"

Well, this sucked. Yusuke absolutely hated the whole mess. Guns were really, really not his thing, even after Elisa had taught him how to use one. The only real way to get around this was to get too close for them use guns, and even then...

Basically, when in doubt, Yusuke fell back on his old habit of blowing up everything with his spirit gun. He didn't even bother seeking cover, just fired off a blast of spirit energy at the people firing and then charged into them, punching everyone within arms reach.

Jack was watching the exercise from the Danger Room’s observation area, not batting an eye when his holographic self died instantly. It was a nasty trick, but they were training for a nasty business. After the simulation was over and the Red Queen had provided her evaluation, he’d meet with the rest of the team to give his own feedback, along with any interested observers who wanted to share their thoughts.

While it was a poor substitute, Raimi had been more comfortable practicing with the possession substitute programmed into the simulation for him than he would have been actually leaving his body in any kind of situation like that.

But it had made his attempts to use his abilities to their full extent very clumsy. The armor had been much more useful.

"That was a dirty trick, Bauer." Not that Raimi had been really fooled by it, but it had looked real.

"Yeah, it was," Jack said matter-of-factly. "It's also something we need to prepare for. We have a high-risk mission profile, and I don't have the same powers as the rest of you. There's a good chance that I could be eliminated on a mission." He didn't think he was a liability, but he did recognize that he couldn't stop or dodge bullets, or stand up to someone with superhuman strength. "You did good, John." Raimi's performance in the simulation, especially cut off from his standard powerset, had helped validate Jack's decision to include him on the team.

He'd had a lot of experience getting killed by bigger, stronger, and deadlier enemies. Granted, none of those bodies he'd died in had been his, but he knew how it went, and he'd had the entire chain of command in his team break down before.

"Thanks," Raimi said, and after a pause, he added, "Would it be out of place for me to say that terrorists in an urban combat setting are a refreshing change of pace?"
