"Thanks Helena." It was still a little odd being called that.

She set to carefully tearing open her present.

Helena shifted a bit nervously while Selina opened the present. It was a sappy present, a scrap book made up of pictures of them together and various other things; ticket stubs from movies and receipts from shopping trips. She was almost ashamed to be giving it to Selina.

She should have just gotten the other woman a gift card.

Selina looked through the scrapbook slowly, a faint half-smile on her face. No one had ever given her anything quite like this before. She couldn't imagine how long it had taken.

She reached over and gave the younger woman a one-armed hug. "Thank you."

Helena hugged her back, glad that Selina had liked the gift. She wasn't sure how sentimental she was and considering that she wasn't Helena's "real" mom she wasn't sure Selina would care about something like that.

"You're welcome," she said, hugging her back. "I'm glad you like it."

Selina wasn't the sentimental type, but she appreciated the thought and effort behind it. "No one's really done anything like that for me before."

Of course, she'd never really had a daughter before.

"I've also got some really kick ass boots for you too, if you want those as well," she said. They were her back up gift, in case Selina hated the book. Since she was either faking that she liked it or she really did, Helena figured she had earned the boots too.

"Boots are always good." It was true, she could never have too many. "Glad to see you here."

"Glad to be here," she said, although she wasn't sure if she meant it or not. It was bigger than Selina's, which meant she could avoid the people she didn't like easier.

"So, I've been wondering. Just who are you dating these days?"

The shift caught her off-guard. "Nothing official really." It was a careful reply. "I have been seeing Bruce, I suppose."

Helena had been thinking of some way to transition into the topic but when she couldn't think of one, she'd just gone for it. She tried hard not to let anything show on her expression at the mention of Selina seeing Bruce. She had already guessed it from the way the man was acting at the party. Besides, she knew that her mom really cared for him so... she could almost be happy.

"I'm glad yours is finally here," she said, forcing a smile that was actually mostly genuine. "I know you really care about him."

"I love him." She said it quietly, but with conviction.

"Then I'm happy for you," Helena said, and she meant it. That didn't mean she wouldn't go kick his ass if Bruce hurt her, and she didn't like the guy anymore than she did previously, but she was happy for Selina.

"Now that I've cleared up that mystery, if you were fighting Martian Manhunter, how would you kick his ass?"

"I wouldn't." She'd done enough, really.

"Come on, I can't go into my spar blind," she said.

"Spar?" She thought that over for a moment. "Be prepared to lose. The problem with telepaths."
