He felt like he'd been running forever. Where was he supposed to go? They were all trapped here and always had been and Yuusei knew that as well as any of them. What was even the point in running? They should have stayed and fought instead of running like cowards.

His friends had never been cowards. He couldn't believe they were trying to take that way out now. he couldn't believe he'd followed them. but he couldn't let them get hurt either...

Then he was on the ground and the side of his leg was on fire. Fuck. It had to be raining tonight ( ... )

The first assault wasn't quite enough but the second, aided by Kiryu's burning desire for it to work so he could get out of there, was more than enough. Cavil fell back unconscious and dissolved away into smoke.

Kiryu laughed a little, not really believing it was over. It couldn't be that simple, it had never been that simple. but it certainly seemed to over, and it was because of Crow.

"Crow..." He struggled to his feet, leaning heavily against the bars. "Would you let me out of here?"

Crow blinked when he saw his opponent dissolve into nothingness - way weird really; but he knew he'd seen weirder - then got up and turned towards Kiryu's cell, rolling his eyes at the question and laughed as he pulled his set of lock picks from his belt, though he couldn't quite keep out the concern he felt at seeing Kiryu's condition. "'Course. Didn't come all the way just to let you rot, after all."

He crouched down as he started working at the cell's door. "Who was that bastard anyway?"

"No, you didn't..." He was still trying to wrap his head around the idea that Crow had come to help him when he was sure his former friends would rather see him locked away.

"His name's Cavil. He killed me once to test his powers." Kiryu chuckled, closing his eyes as he remembered their other meeting. "I killed him a couple months after in revenge. He's been trying to get back at me since."

Crow grimaced at Kiryu's phrasing; he disliked the idea of Kiryu being killed just as much as that of him killing. Not to mention how could that guy be coming after Kiryu if he dead? Unless of course… "Wait… so… he's Dark Signer too?"

That would at least explain the strange way he had disappeared.

But… that couldn't be, right; they had gotten them all back then. Something's really not adding up here. Not that that mattered when he heard a satisfying click and got up to swing the door open.

"Here ya go."

"No, he's...a robot. I think. Usually robots get turned human..."

Kiryu made his way over to the door and slipped outside, though still with a firm grip on one of the bars. He thought he might feel better in a little while, but for now it was an effort just to keep standing.

But he would keep making that effort, because Crow was here and Crow had helped him and Crow didn't hate him after all. He was struck with such guilt for ever doubting his friend in the first place, staying standing for him was the least he could do.

"You really came here to help me..." Just, what did he say to that? Thank you? "Crow, I..."

"It's always robots theses days, huh?" Crow snorted; Ghost and Jack's-imposer-thing had been robots too, right? Though the 'get turned into humans thing' did and did not make sense on the same time. Robots didn't just become human's over night (but Crow knew that weirder shit had happened in the City… right… the City…)

"More like ended up here…" he mumbled with a frown. "It doesn't make sense at all. But I ain't gonna leave you behind now."

Then he shook his head and stepped closer to offer Kiryu his shoulder. "Come on, let's get outta here."

"Heh, most of the robots I know are pretty cool. Though I dunno if you'd like them..." Considering most of them were war-robots from another planet, he doubted Crow would like them much at all.

"Yeah, but you could've left or...yeah..." He blinked down at Crow, awkwardly shifting to lean against him instead. It was...weird, feeling like he could trust Crow again.

He'd always been comfortable with teasing him, though. "This isn't gonna work well. You're too short."

much much much later, after he's been through Kaiba's dream hackeralastair November 14 2010, 00:08:28 UTC
One of Alastair's nightmares, early on, used to include his fear of being re-possessed by the Oricalchos. As he wandered from dreamscape to dreamscape searching for Kiryu, his own nightmare warped and evolved to make this fear come true. But the timing was just wrong - or just right, as Alastair saw it. He had power now. He had control of it. He could use it against anything that would come between him and Kiryu.

He stalked up the dark corridor, certain he was close. He heard the scream, and hastened his pace, his gray coat flaring out behind you. "Kyosuke!" he barked into the darkness. "I'm coming!"

Kiryu froze when he heard that voice. He could even mostly ignore the pain crawling through his body. Alastair...he couldn't let Alastair find them, Cavil would definitely go after him. But there wasn't anything he could do to stop him and he'd lose another friend to this bastard...

"NO!" A solid wall slid into place at the end of the hall, shutting them off. "Alastair, you can't come down here!"

I had this evil idea... hackeralastair November 14 2010, 00:41:11 UTC
"Kyosuke!" Alastair's shout was slightly panicked, but mostly angry. Nothing was going to get in his way. "Where are you? I'm coming to protect you!"

He heard something else down there. Someone. If someone was hurting Kiryu, they were going to pay.

I think I might love this idea satisfiedsigner November 14 2010, 01:03:25 UTC
"NO!" Kiryu shouted again, the shout turning into another scream as Cavil prodded his brain again. "You can't! YOU'LL DIE!"

He wouldn't let Alastair get hurt because of him. Alastair had already been in danger enough because of him, and he wouldn't let it happen again. Not again.

And then Cavil had to speak, his voice echoing through the dreamscape, "Yes, run away. I'm sure your friend would be better off without you."

At the sound of Cavil's voice around them, truly like a nightmare made real, Alastair's heart quailed for a second. But then, the Oricalchos within him surged against his fear, reminding him that he was stronger than that. Cavil is in there and he's hurting Kyosuke! I'm not going to let him. He's not going to kill my FAMILY again!

Anger, seething hatred, those were stronger than fear as well. Alastair raged, and the green light began to swell around him. The telekinetic powers of the Oricalchos rippled outward from him, blasting a hole in the wall through which he could step. And he did, the green symbol blazing on his forehead.

And for the first time, Cavil wasn't all sarcastic smiles and biting words; he even took a step back in his surprise. The annoying note in the air got steadily louder as Cavil turned it up for Alastair to be able to hear it too.

Kiryu was shocked too, of course, but it was more shock and awe in his case than shock and fear. He'd known that Alastair had had some sort of power before--maybe this was it. The mark on his arm certainly seemed to think it was, as it started glowing in response.

"Alastair, you..."

"Kyosuke. Are you all right?" The relief was clear in his voice, but so was a confidence Alastair usually only displayed when flirting or trolling the comm. The note made him flinch, but the Seal on his forehead blazed brighter as if to resist it. "Urgh...stop that!" he demanded of Cavil. "I'm not going to let you hurt him any more! Let's see if you can still work that thing without your soul!"

He didn't have his duel disk on him, but he had his cards in a back pocket. He flicked one out and held it out, a spell card written in a different language. The room shimmered with green light, and the mystical Seal appeared beneath their feet. Kiryu's mark would save him from this, but Cavil? He stood no chance against magic when he had no dueling skill to save him.

it was horrible of him, but Kiryu really could help but note just how attractive Alastair was right now. That confidence was something he didn't have very often, and it was definitely something Kiryu wanted to see more than just now. but he couldn't answer that question. Of course he wasn't okay, but he couldn't tell Alastair that, and he certainly wasn't going to admit it in front of Cavil.

Cavil took another step back, certainly not expecting the floor to just start glowing or for Alastair to have such a backbone. He was still able to sneer at him, "You think I have a soul? So sorry to disappoint..."
