He felt like he'd been running forever. Where was he supposed to go? They were all trapped here and always had been and Yuusei knew that as well as any of them. What was even the point in running? They should have stayed and fought instead of running like cowards.

His friends had never been cowards. He couldn't believe they were trying to take that way out now. he couldn't believe he'd followed them. but he couldn't let them get hurt either...

Then he was on the ground and the side of his leg was on fire. Fuck. It had to be raining tonight

As soon as the robes went away, Cavil let up a little and Kiryu sagged against the bars in relief. He finally looked up, looking a little surprised when he saw Bakura.

"Bakura..." Nonono what was he doing here?!

"Nice of you to join us," Cavil said, though this mild tone didn't match the annoyance on his face. "If only it's to see any thoughts you have of saving your friend are futile."

Cavil staggered under the assault and dropped the violin tuner, which fell silent when it hit the ground. But he wasn't going to give up so easily; he managed to raise the gun and fire a couple of shots before he finally collapsed and dissolved into smoke. Though since he had to struggle to lift the gun in the first place, the bullets flew harmlessly past Bakura's head and feet.

Kiryu let out a hesitant laugh and flopped against the bars. He had no idea what Bakura had done, but it worked and that was enough for him.

Kiryu struggled to his feet and took the hand with a grateful smile, and then tugged Bakura into a tight hug. He'd never been so relieved to see one of his brothers, even though he would have preferred Bakura to stay out of harm's way.

"Thanks. What'd you do, anyway?"

That got Bakura a very startled look but it was brief and then Kiryu was hugging him tighter than before. That was a surprisingly vicious thing for Bakura to have done.

"He deserved it."

He was racing down the main street on Black Bird, racing, racing away… away from the screams, away from the that fog, from that terrible darkness that's swallows everyone and everything behind him and all he could think was 'Survive! Survive no matter what!', but no matter how fast he was, no matter what route he took… it was after him and he could feel it grab for his soul; dark, greedy tendrils whispering around his arms…

And then he was falling, falling and then he was on the ground and checking, he couldn't breath… couldn't move… and just before him he saw Black Bird toppled over, his proud D-Wheel lying there, helpless and unmoving like its owner...

Everything was growing dark and he couldn't breath, couldn't think and seeing Black Bird brought up memories from years ago, from Pearson and Bolger and a fire and a promise… a promises he had wanted to fulfill so badly no matter what, because he was the only one who could fight for them, for his kids and god knew what would happen to them if he gave up here

The sudden arrival was enough to distract Cavil for a moment, giving Kiryu a moment to catch his breath and look up. Crow was here--why did Crow have to be here he was going to die--but he had too many markers didn't he? He couldn't have gotten all those at once...

His foot suddenly felt like it had exploded and he bit his lip to keep from screaming. Fuck Cavil, fuck him, fuck...

"Crow..." he managed to get out. "Get out of here..."

Crow froze at the picture that met him; Kiryu in a cell, exhausted and hurt (and damn, never mind what ever else has happened between them; Kiryu should never look this pathetic, it's just wrong on so many levels…) and that other, unmoving guy in the opposite cell and that old geezer in the hallway, staring down at him arrogantly, like Godwin, like Rudger, like that damn asshole that had arrested Kiryu… but he wasn't wearing an uniform… Then he heard Kiryu telling him to run (Like hell! Like he would ever abandon a friend in a situation like this!), he shook his head, then glared at the man right in front of him.

"Who are you, bastard?" he shouted, tensing up, ready to put up a fight no matter what (and honestly how much of a challenge could one old guy be?). "What the hell did you do to him?"

Cavil let out a soft laugh, looking, if it was possible, even more arrogant than before. At least it took his attention off Kiryu, giving him another brief moment of rest.

"I'm simply returning a favor. You scratch my back, I'll torture you in return. Or is that not how the saying goes..."

"Crow, the thing in his hand..." Kiryu murmured, because screw it, he might be able to reach the bastard, but Crow could, "the thing making noise...shut your ears and get--"

And more pain as Cavil glanced at him to shut him up. "Ah, now, let's play nice, Kiryu."

He bristled with anger; just who did that guy think he was, who was he anyway? Then he heard Kiryu's hint; thing in his hand, sound - he wasn't sure what that meant, but it was a good hint and hopefully his helmet was good enough to block whatever that man was going to try…

"Yeah, let's play" he snarled, a card in between his fingers, taking aim and throwing with practiced ease and then he stormed forward; he was going to take that guy down.

Thankfully, Cavil's brain affecting powers wouldn't work with that helmet in the way (not that Kiryu knew that or he would have been singing a much more reassured tune), and he certainly didn't anticipate a card knocking the tuner out of his hand. Kiryu reached out and grabbed it and turned the damn thing off, almost sagging in relief when the note disappeared.

And he could sit back and enjoy Crow kicking the crap out of his worst enemy. Cavil was no fighter, which was why he hid behind his damn powers and the law, so it wouldn't take much to take him down.

Crow pushed forward his elbow as he ran, using his monument to tackle Calvin down (becoming 'Crow the Bullet' in the most literal way), then pressed down with his weight and pulled back his head to ram the helmet against the old man's forehead, ready to deal more damage in case that wasn't enough to knock him out.
