Josh had been fairly frustrated and distracted that evening and been hoping to use the Danger Room, but unfortunately it was under use right now so he had made the trip for nothing.

He decided to wander the hallways though and see if any of his friends that lived there were around.

[ooc: Not an X-person but he has reason to be there so I hope that's okay.]

The Institute was huge. Jono had been had been here five days already and had mostly cased the entirety of the property, but he'd yet to get into the lower levels. No Danger Room clearance - whatever that meant.

Jono intended to find out, and so when the first non-authoritative-looking person crossed his path, he smiled and waved slightly to catch the bloke's attention.

"Mind lending a hand, mate?"

[ooc:It's all good!]

Josh glanced behind himself for a moment to make sure he was the person the guy was talking to. He didn't recognize him from any of his glasses or anything and Josh didn't think he looked particularly helpful.

"Who, me?" he finally asked when he realized there was no one else the guy could be talking to.

"You," Jono affirmed. "D'you know which way I take to get to the Danger Room? I'm new," he added. "A bloke can get lost in a place like this."

Friday may not have meant the end of school or the end of training sessions, but at least it was the end of CLASSES! Megan tucked her books away and threw on her headphones, closing her eyes to some Basement Jaxx and grooving her way haphazardly around the halls of the dormitory floor of Xaviers.

Jono'd been to the top floor by now, but he was getting hungry. Kitchen time, to see if he could nick any food... now which stairs had he come up? Indecisive, he turned around - straight into a small pink girl.

"Oh!" she squeaked as she felt a warm body slam into her wings, "Sorry!"

She turned and pulled her headphones out of her pointed ears, looking curiously up to the young man who had disturbed her groove session. "Oy, new guy from some alternate X-team, yeah? I think we met on the comms. Sorry again. I need to watch where I'm going."

And with that, she lauched her wings and raised herself a foot off the ground so she could be eye-level with the stranger.

XD that would end far more horridly than before, however nextleader July 14 2010, 13:24:42 UTC
"Bloody -" Jono cut off his surprised epithet as he regained his balance.

"That'd be me," he replied to the kid - the voice was familiar, but he had no idea if he'd gotten her name when they'd talked before. "And it's Jono, actually."

He started a bit as she suddenly leapt to hover at eye-level with him. "Neat trick," he said, impressed. Sure, Shadowcat could float, and so could Vicente - sort of - but he'd not met very many real fliers back in his world.

Emma's job didn't end just because it was summer vacation, she still took time to check on the various students who made the Institute their home. This afternoon Emma was sitting in the kitchen of the Institute, watching the students as they walked by, trying to get a feel for them. It may not have been a particularly ethical thing for her to do, but Emma Frost never cared about silly things like ethics. Despite the fact that she taught it.

In a twisted way Emma monitored the emotions of the students that came by out of concern for them. It had nothing to do with her wanting to know what they were feeling or doing just because she was nosy. She just wanted to make sure they were adjusting to this place and that they were doing okay mentally.

So, anybody that happened to come to get some food or something to drink would see Emma Frost sitting at a table eating a small salad and reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

Jono poked his head into the kitchen; there were a few people milling about, talking quietly, and one woman who - for a moment - made him freeze up: Kitty? But no, though there was coiffed blonde hair, it was long, and as Jono walked past he could tell immediately that the woman's facial features were nothing like Shadowcat's.

Relieved and disappointed, Jono opened the fridge and began to help himself to a glass of milk.

Emma looked up from her book and watched the boy carefully as he walked over to the fridge. He seemed familiar in an odd way, but she couldn't quite place it. At least she couldn't at first, finally it hit her.

"Jono?"

On hearing his name, Jono turned around, still holding the milk carton, looking for the person who'd named him: the woman in white was staring at him.

Something pinged in Jono's memory; this must be the Miss Frost Megan had mentioned. A telepath, so she had reason to know his name, but all the same it was still weird to be named by a complete stranger.

"That's me, yeah," Jono said, trying to shoo the oddly defensive tone out of his voice. Being caught off-guard by authority figures never sat well, he supposed. "And you're Miss Frost?"
