Waiting quietly in the front hall of the Institute, Pixie tried to shrug off her own sleepiness in order to encourage her friends and teammates not to think about how early it was. For crying out loud, they'd had to get up earlier for danger room sessions, and this shouldn't be nearly as rough as all that.
As they arrived, she smiled warmly at each of them, glad she'd made the choices she'd made.
Angelo couldn't remember the last time he'd been awake this early. Various movie marathons wherein he didn't actually sleep whatsoever didn't count. A cup of coffee clutched in one hand - his second one in the last few minutes alone - he gave Megan a half-hearted wave as he arrived before slouching against the wall opposite.
Sally had been able to sleep in. It had been great to get her morning kiss, and then be able to curl back up under the covers for another hour. Though, she did miss out on Sam in his uniform so that was kind of sad. She skidded into the room, a little too upbeat and grinning.
Thanks to his unique (and awesome) powers, Santo wasn't tired in the least. In fact, he decided to just not bother with sleeping thanks to staying up late working on team stuff with Rikki. He casually strolled into the hall. "Hey, nerds. Everybody here yet?"
Sally had picked a large house nestled in the heart of wine country in France. Of course the description on the website had been greatly misleading, and she crossed her arms as she looked at the dilapidated house.
Were those really chickens running out of where the front door should have been?
When Pixie teleported the five of them into France as per Sally's well-organized and printed instructions, she had rather expected something more... impressive. Really, when it came to Sally, she supposed they should have been happy that she hadn't led them to an abandoned sewer system full of dead centipedes and martial-arts-practicing turtles in colorful bandanas.
"Fixer upper is right," she said, looking at the chickens dubiously. "But... it's big enough. And hey, even comes with free mascots."
"Mascots, sure," Angelo said as he walked up and looked the place over. "Chickens really capture the whole essence of our retreat to a foreign country when things get hot."
This was the best idea. Nothing could persuade Santo otherwise. After all, if you really want to hide, you don't do it out in the middle of nowhere. That's the first place anyone will look. No, you hide in the middle of a crowd
Which is why the coordinates Santo gave Megan lead right to the entrance of Euro Disney.
He actually managed to throw his arms open and get out an overly dramatic "Tada!" before the pointing and screaming started.

It was starting to get dark now, and they'd yet to find one place that everyone could agree on. Megan didn't have very high hopes for their next location being ideal for a sanctuary, either. But she'd been looking an excuse to find her hometown in this new world since the first day it had all been explained to her. After all, if there was another New York City, then there must logically be another Abergylid, right? But in a village where sheep outnumbered people and everyone knew everyone else's name and family, what would it mean? Would the same people she thought she knew be there, but not recognize her? Or would it just be populated by completely different people she'd never met before? What if there was another alternate Megan, with mousy brown hair and plain rounded ears, who never left home because she never grew wings to begin with

"Megan? What do you mean this is wrong?"
She had a fairly good idea. Sally had been to Brooklyn to see her old home, but it hadn't been there. None of what she remembered had, not really.
