You know, I'm all for incorporating elements of classic fiction into everyday life. It if weren't impractical as shit and contribute to a good number of health problems (not to mention get me a bunch of shit for being a misogynist which totally isn't true, by the way), I'd even suggest the revival of the corset. Because honestly, no one can tell ( Read more... )

I imagine more people are trying to put it out of their minds. It doesn't mean they're over it yet. It just means they're not talking about it.

Repression. Yep, that's an awesome way to handle trauma.

We haven't gotten over it. We're just trying to push through the aftermath of it.

People were injured, others lost their minds and there's more property damage than I can shake a stick at. Just because we're not talking about it in public places doesn't mean we're not doing anything. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Some people are doing something about it sure. But that's a relatively small number compared to who all is here and posting on the network. Still, glad to hear someone not just telling me to sit down and shut up.

You shouldn't sit down and shut up. These are things that should be brought up.

And you're right, what good are the heroes if we desert the people we say we're here to protect when they need us most?

No good at all.

So, Miss Hero, what do you think about infrastructure in a city this size?

There's always something. You have to be able to move on quickly unless you want the entirety of your life to be focused on this sort of thing.

If you don't want the entirety of your life to be focused on damage control then get the hell out of the game. Seriously, what kind of answer is this?

permavoice; fishnets November 7 2011, 02:53:03 UTC
I am not suggesting that you don't do damage control or clean up whatever mess you helped to make. But you need to be able to move on and be okay at the same time.

Serious question here: How many of us are really okay in this line of work? If that's what you've decided to do with your life, I think you should know that the job doesn't end when the monsters disappear. It's about constant vigilance and building an infrastructure that prevents this kind of shit from happening. Or makes it easier to deal with when it does.

And here I was thinking ding-dong the monster's dead was still good enough for you people.
