[Joel's in his apartment yet again, sitting on the floor and assembling what looks like a small table.]

Who's going to that Charity Ball? I'm not sure if I'm going to go. I mean...are we supposed to bring a date or go suit and tie? [He frowns, pausing to fasten a few screws.I was thinking about something else too. What do you think about legacy ( Read more... )

Charity Ball?

What would one do at that sort of thing?

I'm actually not too sure. [He gives a small, apologetic shrug.] I think it's just a party. Get dressed in nice clothing, go talk to other people there, maybe some dancing.

I've never done such a thing before.

[She smiles a bit.]

It all sounds very exciting!

I've never been to a ball before either.

I guess it could be pretty exciting if it's all new to you.

Taking up my legacy.

...an intriguing idea. It is a demanding occupation, I doubt many would be willing.

In your world, did people take on legacies with or without permission?

It was both I think. I never really got to ask many others but I think I heard about how a few heroes that took the legacies without permission would look for the older heroes to see if they lived up to the name or something like that.

Interesting.

I believe there are some 'heroes' in my world whose legacies deserve to die with them, but I doubt we will be so lucky.

Why do you think those legacies should end?

[Joel glances up when he hears that voice.]

Yeah...

[He frowns a moment then smiles.] Why not bid on someone at that date auction? Take them if you win?

It could be a way to meet someone new. Have a good time with them at the ball even if it's just ending up being friends with them.

I'm not sure if I'm going either. I don't know anything about it. And I really don't have anything to wear. It sounds fun though. Kinda wish someone had asked me to go as their date.

[A pause as she squints to see what he's building.]

Is that from Ikea?

I don't know much about either other than what's already been said. [He shrugs.] Why not bid on someone at the date auction? You get in free with them if you win.

I think it might be. I bought it online after I broke my other table.

Oh, I would but I really don't have much spending money.

Were you dancing on your table? I broke one once doing that.

Me either. [He smiles.]

Err, no. It was an old one I found and I crashed into while I was using my powers and it broke.
