there is an elevated level of prophecies concerning the people here, given how the city seems to suck in royalty, gods, concepts, chosen ones, and those who can see all over time
a very high percentage of people who have heard from a mysterious figure (likely blind) about their future, their destiny, their 'greater purpose'
i have had two such experiences
one, when i was a child, i met a fortune teller, who told me that my name meant 'the rule breaker', and that i would someday break all established rules of life
two, sometime after leaving the army, i met an artist who painted on massive stones, who told me of the 'bottle feed daughter of the throw away age'
telling me that she would give an arousing kiss to an old, battered world, among other things
and (this is the funny part), that she 'flirts with the devil and makes him seem a fool'
that is fucking hilarious, you ask me
