27th Insane Speech // Video and Text

May 23, 2010 10:56

[The video starts with a view of everyone’s favorite warmongering lunatic standing in the prison library in his baggy orange jumpsuit, next to a table with a large map and several papers on it. He’s grinning, and gives a theatrical bow before switching to text. The Major’s blathering is also available in a text-to-speech if necessary.]

How fortunate that we will be on the same side this time.

That would certainly be possible. It is not a residential area, and between your base and the tunnels being explored we have ample room in which to store the poor, huddled, frightened masses.

[Oh he did not just diss the plan.]

I cannot help but notice that we have yet to behold your grand stratagem, 'Master.'

Very well then, we may discuss your deplorable taste in classical music another time. Which of the axioms would this be?

Take away my pencils and maps, fraulein, and I will make do with my fingernails and the wall. My mind, my will, is what drives me, and those you cannot touch.

I don't care if the department follows your plan, or not. I'm not leaving people out there to die. You're just going to turn on us the second the fight with the HIVE is over with anyway. I'm not leaving a bunch of people trapped where you can just turn them into ghouls. You're all scum, and you'd better stay out of my way out there. You're worse than the HIVE, and I'm not going to forget that just because you're fighting them now.

Oh please, give me at least some credit, fraulein. I would not turn against you until after the victory celebration!

Excellent, someone else with experience in the matters of military command. And what do you think, Captain? I believe I could find you a sizable force to command among those who have yet to be organized.

*give him a bit to find that feature and run more text through it. It's painstakingly slow but finally the first easy way around the text barrier*

I will make decisions on my own, including recruiting. I gather that you're in prison and a number of people vehemently dislike you, so you'll understand if I want to take that into account.

...nevertheless, this is the most comprehensive detailing on the size and scope of the city's defenses, that I've seen. What I could decipher, anyway.

[The Major decides to switch to video and use his own text-to-speech function for the sake of efficiency, cursing his injury every moment he does. Geddoe gets a couple awkward minutes of footage of the Major standing there texting before the communicator's electronic voice begins to speak.]

Of course.

I understand that you are more than a little unused to the battles of the modern world, but still you acquitted yourself quite well against my troops so I am inclined to have a certain amount of faith in you. Have you any experience with the defence of cities, Captain?
