Duck sighed, leaning forward to prop up her elbows on her knees. "Well, it's not the same story, that's for sure. "Drosselmeyer isn't here, and the Raven isn't here, and it can't be the story of the Prince and the Raven without the Raven." she said, matter-of-factly.

"I know that much," Fakir said. He folded his arms and sighed. "But the blood is still here, and Mytho's feelings are still returning."

Duck leaned her head into her hands. "True love cured it completely before. But I don't know if Rue could do that unless things were really bad. But the more feelings he gets, the better he'll be able to fight the raven's blood, don't you think?"

"How do you define 'really bad'?" Fakir asked, reaching for one his books. He tried to thumb through it and look more or less unfazed by the mention of Rue.

"Well, Mytho turning into a giant crow and about to sacrifice his heart to the Raven. That kind of really bad." mumbled Duck. She reddened slightly in embarrassment. She really did believe that Rue could change, or had changed. There was some ambivalence in Rue's recent attitude that Duck hoped was a positive sign, but the facts of Rue's past actions, or future actions, depending on the perspective, did not agree with Duck's optimism.

She resigned herself to the fact that she and Fakir would probably not be able to count on Rue's help, unless both of them agreed to give the other a chance, which she didn't think would ever happen.

Fakir looked up suddenly, eyes wide. The book laid open on his lap, forgotten. "The Raven isn't here," he said after a moment of frantic thought. "That can't happen. It can't."

"No, you're right. That can't happen here." agreed Duck. "It won't, 'cause the Raven isn't here, and the last time the Raven Prince took over it tried to eat other people's hearts in... stead." Uh oh. Another thought had just occurred to Duck. She didn't like it much at all.

"I know that! ...What's with that look?"

"Uh, nothing! Let's not worry about things that can't happen, okay?!" said Duck frantically. She waved her hands in a dismissive gesture too vigorous to be properly effective. She didn't want to worry Fakir even more.

"A-anyway, since we can't count on Rue's help, we should figure out another way to get the Raven's blood out of Mytho!"

Fakir scowled and grasped her hands, forcing them down onto her knees. "Duck. This is important. If there's something on your mind, you need to tell me so we can figure out how to prevent it."

Duck tried to avoid his gaze. "I just thought, what if he tries to sacrifice his heart to someone else?"

"Then I won't let him!" Fakir said immediately, his grip on her hands tightening. "I won't let him. If it happens, I'll stop him."

"That's right! We just won't let him! And in the mean time, we can look for those flower things!" said Duck, encouraged. "Uh, and can you please let go of my arms?" He was blocking her circulation.

"Eh?" Fakir snapped out of it and quickly released Duck's hands, placing his neatly and speedily in his lap. "Right. I didn't even notice."

He sat like that for a moment, squeezing his own hands now. "It would be almost like it was at home for you, looking for them."

Duck rubbed her wrists gingerly. "Well, I don't really have the pendant anymore, and the City is much bigger than Kinkan town was, but I guess so."
