I can't stand it anymore. I can't stand my class anymore. I can't stand my school anymore. It feels like I can only be alive at home. Like if the only time of the day where I can start get out from my protective silent secret "staring" to start act comedian/show host is when I get home ( Read more... )

I understand how you feel; I went through exactly the same bullying thing. In America any kid who shows any sign of preferring music and literature rather than sports is considered a horrible outcast. And when I was in high school I went on a trip to Switzerland with the school orchestra; I made a point of spending as much time as possible away from everyone else, and I was the only one who actually did things like trying real Swiss food and whatnot. The rest of the group cloaked themselves in a sort of tiny portable America, which was really frustrating and annoying.

Interesting situation. I like that experimentalism. I hope we won't be a "cloaked portable Sweden" when my artclass goes to Paris. I want to get out on the streets and see shops and everything. You know what I mean, one wants to explore, not just sit in a box repeating the same boring sex jokes over and over and over and over again.

(By the way, the phot in the post above is actually a photo from my school that friend took. And that is my class. Parts of it.)

Hopefully you'll get to do some exploring; I hear Paris has a lot of interesting hidden stuff. And it sucks to end up eating at McDonalds practically every day when you're in a completely different country! I'm still irritated at my group for making that decision...

Oddly enough it looks like your school has the same kind of chairs as the school I went to!

Ugh, McDonalds.... Of all the resturants you can go to in Stockholm, wether it is persian, chinese, japanese, mongolian, african or hungarian my classmates have taken seats in McDonalds. UGH!

Wow, scary, the photo above are actually from a completely new school buildt especially for the music, theater, art, media and dance classes.

That's a great story. And I'm sure you'll enjoy Paris; just find a safe place to sleep.

My interpretation of these children you're talking about is that they were acting out social roles, trying to mimic adult. This is a part of socialization, and by not actively participating in the acting you were singled out. I don't think that you were necessarily any more naive than they were.

I'm lucky in a way, because, when I was a child my parents moved very often, form country to country; so I never lived in a place for too long to really get absorbed in the culture. When you're new to a place, you sometimes can't tell the normal people in that culture from the crazy ones -- as Fellini says in one of his movies -- so I can say I had a very interesting upbringing meeting all kinds of children.

I will find a place to sleep. For sure.

I dunno and I really don't care if they acted out social roles. But now if we have to care I'd like to say that the social roles are fucked still.

School was just wrotten. I was popular with the other kids until 2nd grade when suddenly everyone else stopped drawing and decided I was weird. Sorry to hear your experience has been less than fulfilling.

Gosh, sounds horrible to be considered weird just like a snap.

There is nothing to be done, I guess, than take the shit and turn the hatred to motivation of becoming something. But it gets hard certain nights and days.

you sound like Johan about his school, he hated it, although he wasn't "mobbade" he quit the one course that would have let him go on to Univerisity because it was disurbing, everything down to his concentraition, he claimed also the teacher had a hand in his leaving due to the fact he joined this course at the end, and they kept refering back to the previous YEAR, the year he wasn't there ( ... )

Gymnasiet got the same position in the Swedish school system as High School got in the American. It's sort of the last time you can't choose if you have to go trough it all. Högskolan and Universitetet are all one selfs choices. Depending how much of a career dude you are. And depending on what kind of career you want.
