I was thinking about you when I was there, and grateful that you didn't do that long slog to end up in a place where you couldn't breathe well. I was pretty irritated with people being so clueless. I need to shoot off an email to the rangers, asking them about it.
The smoke and fire situation is both terrifying and depressing. Even thinking of an epic morel harvest... just doesn't touch on it. I've been away enough that I'm not entirely convinced that the sense that everything is too dry and brittle is more than me knowing about the fires... but bah. I mean, August is usually dry. But it's wrong.
You know, I completely missed that you were in town until last night. Facebook changed what they bother to show me (switched from recent to top stories again, without my noticing) and I think your posts weren't top stories. I saw them after I switched back, and seriously? Ugh. I didn't mean to be radio silence.
How long are you here? We should definitely get together..
Ok, sometime this week, or maybe over the weekend? I think my Saturday is going to slated for another training hike. (The hike is best done solo, sorry--I'm going for speed and distance, to train for my final day on the Scotland hike of 24 miles. I'm going to have to go really far afield to get away from the smoke, so I'll be gone all day.)

(Of course, while I like Twitter better I don't even try to really keep up with my twitter stream.)
I'm here until the 21st, so we have some time.
