Done with One Trip, Re-Planning the Next (and Beyond)

Last night I came home from one trip ( 24 hours in Irvine) and was already re-planning the next trip. No, not my return visit to Irvine next week; that's the next-next trip. The immediate next trip is this weekend.

While my flight was taxiing for takeoff yesterday afternoon Hawk texted me that she'd gotten a last-minute spot in one of her company's Lake Tahoe condos for this weekend. We already had plans to stay at a hotel east of Sacramento Friday night- a Friday Night Halfway thing- and head up into the mountains Saturday morning. I cancelled that booking from seat 12D as now we'll stay in Tahoe for the weekend.

One aspect of this change is that now we'll go out for the whole weekend. Before, our plan was to hike on Saturday and come home Saturday night, leaving Sunday for relaxation and catching up on chores around the house. Now, we figure we'll stay up in the mountains both Saturday and Sunday, ideally going on big hikes both days, and return home late Sunday night.

That puts some pressure on the schedule. I'll be leaving on another business trip Monday afternoon, and there are things I have to have ready before I go. Last time we were in Tahoe I had difficulty both relaxing and being adventurous as I struggled to catch up on work I'd fallen behind on. This time around, I'm pushing myself to make sure the prep work for next week is mostly complete by Friday afternoon so I can enjoy the weekend without guilt or stress. I'll see how that goes.
