Day Three - RNC 2008

I've been disgustingly busy this week, so missed the previous nights of the RNC. Not that I missed much besides the fund raising for Gustav victims on the first night. It's a very good thought, but I felt it was quite contrived. I keep thinking they're putting on a show for everything.

I did like Palin, but since the announcement of her daughter's ( Read more... )

"The only difference between a hockey-mom and a pit-bull? LIPSTICK!" Umm... oK?" -- Seems the role of the VP candidate in campaigns has somehow been defined (by campaigns? by the media?) as debating and stumping with more teeth and harsher criticisms than the presidential one, who should be slightly above the fray. She's stating the apparently obvious, and letting her peeps know she's no pushover. Not a terrible strategy, actually, and totally borne out by the mean parts of the rest of her speech.

Disgustingly partisan. "The do-nothing senate." (I missed the guy's name she was referring.) -- Possibly Harry Reed, the Dem majority leader in the Senate? He released a statement right afterwards calling the speech "shrill," and CNN's female talking heads had a FIELD DAY with that, saying you never hear that word associated with men. My response? "I do, and it was." CNN's Paul Begala's response? (a.) Apparently Reed and McCain DESPISE each other so Reed wasn't about to sugarcoat things, and (b.) maybe we shouldn't be bullied into saying ( ... )

I didn't know about McCain's armpit/shoulder-torture as a POW... just discovered that tid-bit late this morning.
Nevertheless, I think he looked more stiff than usual.

I figured you'd like McWhiteys.

I just re-read my post. I can't believe how disconnected and poorly written it was. By far the worst of my national convention posts. But I suppose that's all the RNC warranted. =P

I'm hoping to get home in time to cover McCain's speech. Though I'm tempted to just watch the football game.
