trudeau actually hired Hamilton's 'Forgotten Rebels' to play a liberal leadership convention where security ended up dragging Mickey DeSaddist off the stage while he screamed "unemployment is the governments fault!"

Trudeau had a sense of humour. What band would Harper invite to a Conservative Convention? I can't even guess.

...probably a tribute rock band, since I'm guessing a lot of the music scene might not like him, but I heard he likes the Beatles so it'll probably be a tribute band.

I wouldn't say he's without a sense of humour. On Rick Mercer, he shook the hands of both his children, before giving Rick Mercer a hug. It could be scripted...but hey, he went with it!

Wow, harper and Trudea similar? That's reaching a lot.

Trudeau believed in keeping the government out of the bedrooms of the nation, Harper was opposed to gay marriage.

Trudeau famously and articulately opposed nationalism in Quebec. Harper clumsily and vaguely proposed recognizing Quebec as a nation.

Trudeau believed in a strong central government. Harper believes in decentralization, as manifested in their respective positions on the NEP.

Trudea worked hard to defend and implement universal health care, Harper opposed "government monopolies" and looked the other way on private clinics.

Trudeau was from Quebec, Harper's from the West, although born in Ontario.

Trudeau is a Liberal, Harper's a Conservative.

Trudeau was charismatic and eloquent, Harper, not so much.

Not the same person. Not the same views on everything.

While you point out substantial differences in the two, the OP makes a valid point that there are some similarities, at least in the two key areas the OP mentioned.

#1 In their approach to leadership as Bullies.
#2 First Quebecois/Westerner in several decades made them outsiders of a sort with regional issues on their mind.

Also mentioned were
#3 Their dry intellectualism.
#4 Fathers with a business relationship to Imperial Oil.
#5 Rebellious youth of sorts (I can kinda dismiss this)

To me this is post interesting enough, but indeed a stretch. I'm sure I could find a few more areas where PET and SH are alike (Both are heterosexual, have size 9 shoes, bilingual, liked sweaters, etc) but I could do that with any two people.

Well, of course there are similarities, they're two white men who've both been PMs of Canada, but given that they're about as different as two people who share that property could be.
