What changes? There is still a conservative minority. Greens are [maybe a bit more] visible, but not in commons yet. opps.. sorry there was one green for a week or two they lost. Jack, Block etc same old, same old...
What landscape changes are you talking about?
Liberals need a new leader. It was clear without any election!
Tories just learned how to win in Quebec (increase arts funding) or at least learned a way not to loose there.
Alberta just got an NDP MP. The isn't impenetrable.
Green Party came in 2nd place in 2 Alberta ridings, and I don't know about the rest of Canada, but while still not a contender, they now have bargaining power as a legitimate force.
And the Liberals are not only in leader limbo, they are broke. While the repo men are not confiscating the furniture yet, things have to happen in the next year or so for the Liberals.
It's still a Tory minority with a Liberal opposition, but make no mistake, the balance of power just shifted.
Hey, kdborg! You gave it up in brief, but what I really want is the expanded version. I mean I got more info from News in Brief headlines.
Did you want to mention Dion is personally $200,000 in debt? Or that this election cost the Liberal Party of Canada $18million? The Liberal Party of Canada is $6million in debt this morning and the convention scheduled to be in Vancouver is probably going to be moved to Ottawa where it won't cost them as much. You know you could make this post interesting, eh?
The Conservative Party spent a few million in ads against Dion. Didn't the Conservative Party get most of their money prior to the party financing laws came into place?
So, leadership convention in May. Either Rae or Ignatieff becomes leader. Immediately thereafter another federal election, followed by a Conservative majority.
