I apologize in advance because this is probably a very dumb question...but I really can't seem to remember anything about this detail.

So, my stupid-yet-necessary-for-my-fanfic question is...are there bathrooms in the Gryffindor Towers? And what about Slytherin's place in the dungeons? Are there handy bathrooms round there or are ( Read more... )

I don't know that it's ever mentioned, but I think there must be, since, as you say, people want showers (and probably a leak) in the morning. Or after curfew at night. It would only make sense. I write it so they actually have a small bathroom attached to each dorm room, since it doesn't say anywhere that they don't.

As far as I recall it's not mentioned (along with 99% of all fiction).

Though as the stories are based on early 20C British school stories, and set in a 10C castle I would not expect 'showers' (which are a new-fangled Muggle concept and not, I think, mentioned anywhere in the books - yes, we Brits aren't hot on hygiene). There would probably be bathrooms (with individual baths) attached to the dormitories.

The house elves probably have to haul hot water up Gryffindor Tower every morning.

But we know that's not the case with the Prefects' baths, which have running water, and obviously the school is pretty thoroughly plumbed, because there are toilets and all that. The pipes provide a handy way for whiney ghosts and basilisks to get around the school.

So there might be bathrooms with functional pipes and everything and possibly bathtubs (smaller than the one in the prefect's bathroom, but no showers, ?

I think that might be up to you.
