How long was Dumbledore headmaster, according to Remus

I saw something mentioned about Dumbledore's years as headmaster on fernwithy's journal.  I saw something interesting - apparently Remus insinuated Dumbledore had been headmaster for a certain number of years, or a certain period of time.  I can't remember him ever saying anything about that, besides how Dumbledore arranged the Whomping Willow for him.

It's in PoA towards the end when Remus is explaining to the trio about why Sirus isn't the bad evil guy. He (Remus) could only go to Hogwarts once Dumbledore was Headmaster because Remus was a werewolf and the others wouldn't take him. Dumbledore had the Whomping Willow planted to prevent the students from using the secret passage from there to the shrieking shack and discovering Remus when he was a werewolf.

I just re-read your post, um I think I got the answer anyway. But yeah, Remus came to Hogwarts when Dumbledore did I believe. Proof is still in the same place.

"Before the Wolfsbane Potion was discovered, however, I became a fully
fledged monster once a month. It seemed impossible that I would be able
to come to Hogwarts. Other parents weren't likely to want their children
exposed to me.

"But then Dumbledore became Headmaster, and he was sympathetic. He said
that as long as we took certain precautions, there was no reason I
shouldn't come to school...."
