Belated happy birthday to aishuu, who asked (twice!) for more of this AU, i.e. the one where Taiki was Gyousou's predecessor's kirin. Somehow these bits seem to get longer with each incursion. I thought it was time for some trophy husband POV, if only for the sake of Taiki's hair.

Thanks! I'm trying to strike a balance on the confidence front, because the thesis is he was undervalued (more specific: valued but in a limited set of ways) by FailKing, and undervalues himself as a result, if not to the extent of canon!Taiki; plus modesty is an indelible trait with him; plus obv not being able to stop your FailKing from failing will make any unicorn feel like crap. OTOH after 124 years he has plenty of EXP and some awareness of his own competencies.

Ahaha Gyousou wants Taiki to make an honest man out of him.

Taiki's pointed Look at the officials during the ceremony elevated him to a new level of awesome. The image was vivid. If only I didn't avoid drawing like the plague.

So much to love in here - glad to see the taika thing is still present. Does that mean Taiki grew up in the Meiji era or something, or are the timelines a bit different?

Love the fact that Gyousou suspects Asen - it seems to hint that he is not gonna end up dethroned this go round.

And I am shallow, but the image of Taiki's long hair spilling around him as he bows makes me wanna swoon.

It would've been Meiji, although by this point I suppose he remembers very little of that time.

I think Gyousou suspected Asen in canon! but got out-maneuvered there, alas.

Swooning over Taiki's hair isn't shallow, it's the most correct and justified response. XDD

Oh, I never say no to presents. Um. Makeouts? Sap? Sappy makeouts? OR perhaps a visit to/from Kei? ...I feel like you once asked me for Taiki and Youko, and I totally failed to put out, but I'd like to see one where Gyousou and Youko have some interaction, poss. involving swords and badassery and a kirin audience. XD;
