Colby’s head fell against the passenger seat as another long silence passed between him and David on the latest stakeout.

He’d just conceded to David in the last round of “who’s better” and frankly, he couldn’t care less.

“I’ve got another one,” David interrupted the silence, still smiling with his recent victory.

Colby turned to the side, having not enjoyed this game but seeing the excitement on David’s face… he listened.

“Batman or Spiderman?”

Colby rolled his eyes and turned his head back out the window.

“I say Batman.”

Colby said nothing, which was apparently a vote for Spiderman.

“Come on Granger. Spiderman? Really? Batman was the Dark Knight. He didn’t need some lame ass genetic mutation to save the world.”

Colby turned his head back to his partner. “You know what, David? Clint Eastwood could kick both their asses - mutation or not. So, please, can we just… how about we play the time machine game?”

David grimaced, exhaling, “A time machine, one bullet, one criminal: Al Capone or Billy the Kid?”

“Get serious! Billy the Kid wasn’t even a bad guy!”

“Says who??”

Colby leaned forward and smacked his head on the dashboard. Maybe silence wasn’t really so bad.
