I am... reserving judgement. I'm not convinced right now, but I shall give him a chance as there's obviously something in there someone liked, but I've seen nothing he's been in and I must say the clips the aired with the programme didn't endear me to him!
Also, I think his age is going to put a lot of older people off. I'm know it's technically a "kids" programme, but how many adults do we know that watch it? I think a lot of them will be put off by his age which would be sad.
I'm rather disappointed, actually. I'd expected something better from Moffat- a bit more of a daring choice and something not done to please the fangirls.
I really wanted DW to go back to, you know, the Doctor being weird and grumpy and older and less romance (because I'll never like another DW-pairing as much as I love Rose/Ten).
It's going to be hard taking him seriously, I think. I'm gonna have trouble believing someone that young knows all about universes and time travel and paradoxes and is actually almost 1000 years old...
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but that's it.
I think that the fun of it will be just what you said, that it will be hard to take him seriously, making for quite an interesting dynamic and maybe one that he isn't used to.
I think it was pretty brave of him actually, since I am very sure he pissed off all the Classic Who fans with his choice, but we will see!
You know, thinking about the young aspect could actually have some interesting twists, wondering if people (and I mean other characters) would take him seriously. Wonder what Captain Jack will think, the dirty bugger. :)
I think Jack is going to be all "Hehe, young man let me spank you over my knee..." And GOOD FOR HIM! I think the dynamic will be fun, people will not expect such knowledge and/or brilliance out of a young man such as so.
And I think that will be the fun of it! Can you imagine the hard time Donna would give him if she were to run into him! Lol! And yes for Jack! He'd be all over him.
Donna would start acting like his mother, and it would be flippin' hilarious, I think. I like the decision! I will certainly miss Tennant though, but hey, this new kid could be a bit of brilliant!!
