I like him. He is a hand-talker, cracks me up. I am used to being older than the Doctor's...even slightly older than JB. And I like younger guys (have one myself, lol). I am not a Classic Who person though...so wonder how they feel about the choice?

He is cute in a non-pretty way, and I like that.

Exactly, he is quirky and quirky is soooo Doctor! I love the younger choice, and no I am not a Classic Who fan either, other than the odd episode with Tom Baker or Peter Davison here and there...

I've only seem him in the Billy Piper thing... where he stunk like three day old fish... Cockney accent? Fucking hell NO!

Erm... Yep, not terribly impressed.

Oooh and I personally loathe that lantern jaw pretty boring boy look.

*so not impressed*

I've seen some interesting opinions thus far...From downright unneccessary rage (it is, after all, only a television show, no matter whow good it is) to absolute squeeage of the utmost fangirl manner. I fall on the better side of good I think. I like the decision to go with a no named, younger actor. Do I think he is pretty? No, not really, and I can't help but think of him and how bad he stunk in Secret Diary...But I guess time will tell. The Classic Who fans are in uproar right now, if the good ol' interwebz is anything to go on...

*goes to happy place imagining Sam and or Gene's reaction to the announcement of Eleven*

My objections first and foremost is that he can't act... "Wooden" is the word I'd choose. Think about it you and I have seen him act in two different things and we both thought he stank.

Just in case you haven't seen this:

Gawd, he sounds so young!!! But I think he is likely rather overwhelmed by the whole thing. He'd better have wowed the producers with his takes on the scenes he did!

I honestly have no opinion, pending seeing him in action, and especially opposite Barrowman.

I am looking forward to seeing him against Barrowman, hehe.

I'm gonna try and keep an open mind about him. He definitely has his work cut out for him. But the one thing I definitely Hate is his hair. Bah, I'm getting old, but it drives me nuts. And I do love that old school Who fans are probably going insane right about now. If they think Tennant brought in too many squeeing fangirls, just wait till they see him in action.

I think he definitely has his work cut out for him, but I can't wait to see him try. He'll never be my Doctor, that'll always be Ten, but I am ultimately a fan of the show and am looking forward to where it might go.

I'm gonna have to describe my reaction as sorely underwhelmed - I was really hoping they'd go with someone older for Eleven, as well as someone sombre to maintain this sorta bounce-between of withdrawn, somewhat angry personality/erratic, giddy personality that's been running between Doctors since the beginning. And somehow, I don't think someone this young is going to achieve the former. And I'm also in the hate-his-hair camp, really hope they do something to fix the pretentious-emo look.

On the upside, I do find his looks less than attractive and closer to doughy-quirky in such a way that I'm willing to accept that he might have potential. I've not seen him act in anything at all, but no doubt clips are pending, so I'll just wait and see

I am happy they went with younger, I really want to see the dynamic of a younger, much younger that is, Doctor and how people react to him. I don't like his hair either, but in the end, really, I don't care, as long as he is great in the role and brings something to it that he can call his own. I imagine that Moffat really thought he was amazing given that in one point in time he said that he thought Tennant was too young for the role....

I don't find him attractive at all, but I kinda like that so far, I don't know why. The only thing I have seen him in is Secret Diary of a Call Girl so far...

I have high hopes though, I really do!! And man, I have seen some serious hate going on in the land of fandom today, it's kind of amusing to say the least!! LOL!! (Not here in my journal I mean, like in the Tennant forums and stuff, or in the Who forums, people are nuts!)

See, my thinking is that we've already had something of that dynamic of younger Doctor with the likes of both Five and Ten - both of whom were older than Matt Smith, granted, but that element was in both those Doctors (particularly Five, imho) and it's not something I'm interested in when I consider all the other parts of the Doctor that haven't been explored in New Who yet... *mopes*

But yeah, I remain hopeful because I still maintain Moffat isn't an idiot, and hope this guy proves to be a real gem and not a demographic grab. And christ, I can't wait until my flist finally slows down on all the hate and the squee and everything in between - yeesh, people :P

I know, I've taken to not reading the flist hate anymore, just can't take it!

Moffat is by far the best writer new Who has had, IMO (my two fave eps this past season were his two parter Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead) and I just am really looking forward to what he does. He claims to have wanted a darker show, a little less on the trademark Tennant quirky humor and a darker feel, and I think I might really like that.

*fingers crossed*

Let's talk Sam and Gene, yeah? That always makes me feel better!!
