Brain Dump

Well, what have I been up to since I last posted several millenia ago? Here's a quick dump:

Wow! He posts!

I was pretty profoundly un-moved by the last Harry Potter book, but then I'd only read book six out of a sense of obligation. I've been reading a lot of Neil Gaiman lately, don't know if you've read any of his (e.g. "American Gods", "Stardust", "Neverwhere" etc) but he's awfully good.

See, aside from the trite epilogue, I really enjoyed the final Potter book. Yes, it was blatantly obvious from the first explanation of the word "Horcrux" in Book 6 that Harry was one, but I rather liked the way round it. Having Harry actually die (and stay dead!) would have completely changed the tone of the story. Bear in mind these are kids books - Rowling wanted it to end with the hero triumphant and Voldemort getting his just desserts ( ... )
