I read somewhere once that all the faces you see in dreams are faces you've seen in your waking hours, even for just a moment because the brain is not capable of creating faces itself. So when you walk through a crowd and look over all the faces in the group, there's a chance they'll show up later in your dreams even if you don't remember seeing
