A Flea in her Ear (22/02/2011) and some other bits and bops

• After being unsuccessful in grabbing free tickets to A Flea in her Ear at the Old Vic I finally managed to nab some earlier this week! Unfortunately it clashed with my plans of going to see I Am Number Four with Anneke (for which I also had free tickets) but since the theatre show is in its final weeks and the movie only in previews we eventually ( Read more... )

Woooo a little money! I'm glad you're getting something to get you by, to buy you a bit more time. I hope something works out more in the future so you can stay!

A Flea in her Ear was the last show I saw before I had to go. I kinda liked it. I agree it started really slow, got great, then kinda slid off. But I was more excited that Beckett from the POTC movies was in it. We noticed at intermission when someone at the school when, "HOLY SHIT IT'S BECKETT FROM POTC"

Statements like that help the memory.

You know I did actually Google Tom Hollander beforehand (though unaware he'd have two parts in the play) and saw he was in PotC but I so do not recall who Beckett is o.O What was his character in the movies like?

He's the commander of the East India Company. He's the bad-guy who hunting Jack in the last two films.

I vaguely remember the character but I can't put a face to it... Probably because I didn't like PotC 2 + 3 as much as the first movie so I never watched them giving the movies my full attention. Time for a rewatch me thinks :)

I really hope you can stay too! I'm glad you picked up a temp job, did you get that yourself, or did you sign up with a temp company to find you different contracts?

The Great White North will always welcome you back too you know ;)

I've been signed up with a few temp agencies from the start but very little has come up. I complained to one of them earlier this week saying that I thought it was pointless to keep e-mailing them (per their request) on a weekly basis to state I am still available and they immediately called me saying how there hasn't been many relevant jobs available lately blabalbla but lo and behold they did get me two offers over the next few days!

Oh I know :D And I would definitely like to go back asap but I do think it'll be a holiday rather than permanently living there as I already got my 1 year working visum once and iirc the only way I can work in Canada again is if I arrange a permanent job before actually getting there (in other words nigh impossible).

A Flea in her Ear is by Feydeau, right? I think I've seen it on tv a few times, funny vaudeville.
good luck on the job! I'm sure you'll find something great later :)

Congrats on the temp job! What kind of a job is it? Is there any chance you might work for them more often? Would be such a shame for you to have to leave the UK :(

You cannot go before I move there (eventually). I'm gonna need people to do the real fun stuff with ;)

Cheers! Not something even remotely interesting (working at reception and making international travel arrangements and such for a management consultancy agency) but it's money and I can continue looking for something I would actually enjoy in the mean time :)

Haha will keep that in mind! Any estimate as to when you want to come over for more than a few days?
