Poor Puff

I got back from picking up the girls from the groomers over half an hour ago. I'm am finally calming down and the tears are stopping. When I got there I saw two groomers pinning Sofie down and she was muzzled while they wrestled with her to trim her nails. I was shocked. I have never witnessed treatment like that before. I asked about the ( Read more... )

Oh angela. I feel sad for both of you

What kind of groomer doesn't recognize warning signs? I mean they had to have gotten to a point where they realized they were pushing her too far. I know what she can be like when her nails are being trimmed and she can get panicky. How could professionals not see that?

Poor Puff. I can only imagine how upset she must of been and how mishandled she was.

But the answer to keeping your baby safe isn't a great one; you can't. You can do as much as you can, be as vigilant as you can, love as much as you can. But in the end, you can't protect your child from the world. Whats that quote? To be a mother is to have your heart walking around in the world for the rest of your life?

*hugs* Sofie will be okay. You will be a great Mom.

I'm trying not to imagine it, it makes me want to go down there and tell those two exactly what I think of them.

I know, I know. It is just moments like these that make me worry. It can't be helped.

Thanks Misti, I appreciate your words.

Oh poor..my heart goes out to her. She doesnt have a mean bone in her body and I can ONLY imagine her trying to bite because the groomers were holding her down and scarying her...she's going to be SO terrified of anyone touching her feet again!

Eff that Petsmart, I'd drive to the other one, too :o(

I'm pissed about how much they've destroyed the trust that good groomers have been working so hard to build in her. I know Puff, she is going to be worse than ever next time.

I'm torn because the bather (and therefore nail person) I like is there and she's better than anyone we've ever found. I'll have to take Sofie there to visit and see how she reacts. You can bet I'll be calling ahead to make sure the one we like is there.

I am really good at grooming a Kees, I grew up with them and learned how to do it all properly. We just don't have a bath that makes it practical because you really need a detachable shower head. I have bathed Sofie in the drive way with the garden hose but that was Texas and the water there never gets cold so it worked out perfectly. Plus she's a bugger about having her nails cut and I rather her resent a groomer than be pissed at me. I wish I could just do it all myself.
