Trick or Treat

[Today, the mess hall has sprouted a porch -- all the better for trick-or-treaters -- and on this porch sits some statues. There is a fourth gargoyle as well, holding a candy-filled bowl in its outstretched hands]

Hm.

[stares at the tablet for a moment, then holds it aloft. There's a moment of stillness before the tablet shatters, fragments melting into glyphs and symbols and they circle David, glowing softly. They form slowly into an eyepatch, situated over his face, that slowly melts into his head]
