Mod post of new-stuffness!
QUERY. Does your character miss their home? Do they wish they could go back? Preferably forever, but even just for a day or two just to be there again? Well now during a special time-frame, they can. This post will now explain the details, qualifications and restrictions of this new, mod sanctioned event. As well as a couple of ETAs to the initial post.
Once a year, during the holiday/new year season, your character gains one (1) "vacation day" per year they've been in camp (via some sort of message or letter from camp). Yes, this means if you've had a character in camp for four years, they now qualify for a 4 day vacation back home. These events will not be played out of course - but everybody is free to detail what happened during their return home in their character journals, or can go jump their friends to tell them all about it when they come back. And of course the characters would not be around in camp for the duration of these vacations, be it just one day or more.
We think an event like this could help with that pesky case of character stagnation - as well as help cases of character updating from ongoing canons.
In the case of characters who are dead or unwilling to return to their own worlds, we will allow visits to others - under the obvious rules from camp of course, that if they try to go into a world void of magic with their godmoding super powers to save it on behalf of their good friend who resides in said world, their ass would be stopped and tossed back into camp before they could do anything (of course this is a player thing, and we know you guys wouldn't overstep any boundaries there ♥).
Keep in mind that it is one day per year, per character, no exceptions. And that this policy is, as always, opt-in. So if you prefer your character to be stuck in camp, you never have to take part in this at all and you can assume your character never got a notification. Keeping tabs on how long your character has been in camp is of course up to you - so if you're waiting for the year mark to approach, please wait for it! If anybody tries to sneak by or abuse this, their ability to participate in this with any character will be revoked.
The initial post for this event will be going up on January 1st and will run until January 6th - as the idea was initially proposed by Shigure, give her love. Yzak will probably be making the posts for this event when the time comes. If all goes well for this first run, look forward to seeing it again next year!
ETA: As this post has gotten many comments and questions (as well as things that we think should go here):
- Vacation days are for your character only! Unfortunately they cannot loan one to a friend.
- When they leave camp for this limited time, they also leave rules! Of course, if you're a terrible person they can have their vacation end just as they're about to put it in.
- The limit is one location per character. If they have two days worth, they cannot use one for one world and one for another.
- There is no carryover policy for characters who were in camp for two years, dropped and were reapped last week.
- AS MUCH AS IT SUCKS FOR ANYBODY WHO APPLIES 11 1/2 months is not a full year.
- Again, you character can go to another character's world! As long as they do not try to alter or change it in any way. This includes cases of A going to B's world, even though B might not be going back (due to death, just not wanting to, or the fact that they haven't been in camp for a year so can't)
