help!

My mom and I are auditioning for the Amazing Race on Saturday. We need a shtick! Any ideas on ways that we can guarantee ourselves through to the next round?

If you help, I'll bring you back invaluable curiosities from foreign lands (i.e. a pen with a monkey or something).

tv, help, mother

Oooh, so jealous! I would love to be on that show but you have to be a citizen.

You always seem to talk with great admiration and respect about your mom, and I think that's increasingly rare these days. Maybe focus on that angle, and on how you moved home after a few years of independence to work out what you really wanted to do with your life?

Ok, I swear I'm not name dropping [and I know I've mentioned it before, so I promise I'm not 'that girl'] but the Linz family who won the "family addition" are the cousins of one of my best friends. The whole family was in an airport in - ok, I can't remember exactly, but the whole family was coming back from a vacation someplace like mexico or the carribean.

Anwyay - a producer from the show was watching them interact as they were sitting at the gate. And apparently, they are just all over each other with teasing and laughter and play fighting - and he approached them and asked if they'd be interested. They were very drawn to their zany hijinks with each other.

I would try to interact with your mom as much as possible. The camera's will be focused on you two together, not on you as you interact with the producers.

I know this doesn't really help much - but I just know what they told me about how the whole 'being discovered' thing happened for them.

Hmm.. I would love to be on that show, too! I can't think of schtick, per se, just playing up how you're different. You recently moved home and y'all are growing closer after a few years of you being independent... You HAVE to be better than some of the losers they've brought on in the past, with NO personality!

OMG that is so cool! I would love to be on the show!

I wish I had good advice, but I am so not creative this morning. Good luck!

I do agree with livefromtexas...I would play up the whole "opposites attract" aspect of your relationship with your mom...how you guys can be BFFs even though certain things about you are ridiculously and hilariously different.

And yes - witty banter and "zany antics" can't possibly hurt, right?

GOOD LUCK YOU AWESOME BALLERS!
