I was privileged to hear a rant today about why parents always ruin their kids lives by not letting them do anything fun. The catalyst for the even was the dad limits the hours the kid can play video games

And in a few decades, he'll be complaining about Today's Kids.

Definitely. Especially when his own kids tell him he's spending too much time "playing stupid games."

When my son complains of rules and me being mean, he gets one of two responses, depending on how generous I'm feeling. Either a) I ask him if he wants to find out how mean I can be, or b) I tell him I'm working on another Mean Mom Merit Badge, so suck it up.

LOL!!! Kids should learn. Never mess with writers. We live to make trouble for our protagonists. It's a small step from there to making trouble for our kids! My favorite is "that's not fair" which opens up the way for far too many easy responses.
