Sam's place, Boulder - Saturday afternoon

It was a little strange to come back to the apartment, but he couldn't stay away forever and his head was a lot clearer now than it had been when he'd left. He was already regretting the part where he'd have to start cleaning up right away and probably call Sam so she knew he wasn't ignoring her

"Are you still in one piece?" Sam asked without preamble.

"Is there any way I can help with that?" Not that she'd been hoping for this, or anything.

"Do you think you could talk with that General you know?" he paused. "Which... I want to earn this, but... I don't know where to start."

[carter_i_am]

Sam figured it would probably be extremely rude to hang up on Cameron again, even if she was doing it to call O'Neill, Hammond, and whoever was in charge of the SGC these days. "Do you want to go back into the Academy, or are you willing to work your way up based on previous experience?"

"I don't know," he admitted, not having thought that far. "I finished two years there. I'm not sure I can go back."

Sam nodded, cradling the phone against her shoulder. Not that he could see it. "I'll talk to the generals, see what I can work out." She paused. "Would you want the SGC, or straight Air Force?"

Cameron blinked. "I have a choice?" he asked, slightly surprised.

[carter_i_am]

"You could." She should still have some clout, after all.

[cameronmitchell]

"Do I get to fly if I'd join the SGC?" There was no way he could be allowed in there, was there? He thought that was for geniuses like Sam and Elizabeth and people who had proven themselves.

[carter_i_am]

Sam laughed. "Yes, you'd get to fly, if you want. I just can't guarantee what you'd be flying."

[cameronmitchell]

"And I'd get to go to different planets?" he asked and he didn't wait for an answer. "Does that sound like something any sane person would turn down?"

It was probably just as well that Cameron couldn't see the expression on Sam's face. "Actually? Yes."

He made a face. "I'll take anything right now, Sam."

[carter_i_am]

"But what do you want?"

[cameronmitchell]

He wanted his world back, he doubted that was the answer she was looking for. "I just want to keep this world safe."

"On what scale? Be careful--I can probably make it happen."
