It was a little strange to come back to the apartment, but he couldn't stay away forever and his head was a lot clearer now than it had been when he'd left. "Are you still in one piece?" Sam asked without preamble.

"Yes." The response was automatic. "For now. I'm sorry," he added in one breath, closing his eyes as he waited for whatever was coming next.

Cameron blinked, for a moment he listened to the dead line and he couldn't help but think that maybe he deserved that. He hadn't really been thinking when he'd taken off...

With a sigh, he hung up and then waited another moment, glancing down at Ray who seemed to be confused about something. Then he redialled, hoping Sam wasn't going to ignore him.
