Author's Notes: I think I like these too much. The first one with
Elyan is here. Then
Kay and his rat issues. And
Percival's secret place. Gwaine was a little different. not in that he was different haha. He was just different. The drinking and the women were fun but not required. Ok. they were required, but they weren't everything he was. He also enjoyed a good bit of gaming and general tom foolery. Currently the tom foolery was getting him into some trouble. Not much mind you, just the tiniest of trouble with the soon to be husband of one of the maids in the kitchens. She had apparently not wanted anything to do with the match made by her family and had used Gwaine's name as the one she really wanted to run off with. Normally Gwaine wouldn't have said much of anything. it wasn't the first time one of his conquests(and she was a past briefly enjoyable dalliance) had used his good name to get out of a rather horrible situation, But on this evening the want-to-be lord in question took great offense in having something that he had thought was to be his, being sullied by the rather notorious(and he was if he did say so himself) Sir Gwaine.
Gwaine held his ground against the man and his friends. A good punch, a steady kick...a... what the hell was that?
"You'd think a knight would have the decency to put on at least a nightdress for bed." Arthur said.
"I leave the dresses to you princess." Gwaine immediately responded, or at least tried to. There was weight in his eyes and in his lips, a heavy drowning weight of sleep. He sighed to himself feeling the edges of his dream about fighting over a kitchen maid last night. He blinked a few times. Did that really happen? Oh yeah. Yes. The stiffness to his left side reminded him that it did.
"Don't you think we should at least wait until they are awake for this? I know this is a good thing, but honestly how would you like it if you were suddenly taken from your bed by magic in the middle of the night?"
"What an idiotic question. First of all, you are the most powerful warlock in existence. Secondly you share my bed. What kind of mentally incapacitated sorcerer would dare to cast anything on me while I slept?"
"There were the two last month, Your majesty." Merlin teased.
"And where are they now?" Arthur was tapping his foot like he did when he knew he won the latest argument with Merlin.
Gwaine watched them with his eyes slowly adjusting to the idea of being awake again. Most would have done something to compensate for the lack of clothing, but Gwaine figured if they came into his chambers for something, whatever embarrassment to be had was on them.
"Anything I can help you with Princess?" Gwaine felt the groggy aftertaste of sleep on his tongue and let his hand scratch lazily up his bare side.
Arthur rolled his eyes and said to Merlin, "Send him now."
"But he doesn't have ANYTHING on." Merlin protested.
"Do you think he cares?" Arthur and Merlin were once again talking to each other and ignoring the rest of the world. Because Gwaine did in fact care if he was being sent some place without clothes. Not much. But he cared.
Merlin however agreed with Arthur assessment and raised a hand. Gwaine shrugged as a white light hit him square in the face.
