The door to the en suite bathroom suddenly opened and Arthur stepped into the bedroom in nothing but a towel. He was startled to find Merlin hovering by the end of his unmade bed.
“Merlin?” He squeaked, eyes darting around the room. Nothing appeared out of place. No buckets of water over doors, no shaving cream in his shoes.
“Sorry. I was looking for your phone charger, mine’s missing,” Merlin answered quickly.
“Night stand,” Arthur answered. “Now out, I need to get dressed.”
Arthur was too busy selecting clean underwear to see the triumphant smile on Merlin’s face.
Arthur dressed quickly and did a more thorough search around the room, making sure Merlin hadn’t tampered with anything while he’d been showering.
Merlin, as he’d discovered during this prank war, was a devious imp that couldn’t be trusted. Finding nothing amiss, Arthur slipped into his flip flops and started to leave the room.
It was a few seconds before he felt the odd itch developing but as soon as he noticed it Arthur knew exactly who to blame.
Merlin was in the kitchen when he heard the outraged bellow. “Merlin, you sneaky bastard, what did you do?!”
Merlin couldn’t stop laughing.
