He never returned for his dad’s funeral. Elyan and Tom were like oil and water, always fighting, always arguing about the most ridiculous things. As Elyan grew up, the arguments only grew more bitter, the shouting vicious and loud.
Little Gwen, ever the diplomat, tried to help, but it was hopeless. One night, it all spun out of control. Elyan left. He didn’t look back.
Seeing Gwen’s worried face now, both of them Cenred’s prisoners, brought back memories of her crying as he walked away.
He had no excuse. Only to follow his own path and hope she would understand.
