Thinking Arthur dead, begging Anhora to let him take Arthur’s place, it seemed almost ridiculous when Arthur woke up, berating Merlin for worrying.

The cabbagehead thought it all a great adventure, once things settled.

What’s worse, Arthur decided the spot was a perfect place to relax so he kept returning, insisting that Merlin accompany him. Merlin didn’t want to go. He still had nightmares about it.

It was nice to see Arthur so playful in the water, relaxed, content.

Merlin shuddered, every wave reminding him of destiny, of death, wanting each trip to be the last.

And then it was.
