Uther let his heart settle down now that he knew what this year's horrible surprise was. For a month or so before each year's annual event Uther's stomach refused to behave in anticipation of whatever life altering issues arose. This latest arrangement of Arthur's marriage, while unpleasant, still wasn't as bad as what his nightmares had come up with for the last week. There still were no stories involving prostitution, drugs, or jail time. For this he was eternally grateful.
"Um sir. If I may have a moment?"
"Of course Leon. Are you enjoying yourself this year?"
Leon was his CFO, and oldest and dearest friend. Their families grew up together. He was even Morgana and Arthur's god father. It only seemed right that he was there for Uther every year, supporting him through his children's miserable antics.
"Through no fault of yours sir, I'm actually not having the best of times." Leon confessed with a dire look on his face.
Morgana rushed over to them both stepping between them. "Father I wanted to discuss this quarter's financial growth. Do you think I could borrow Leon?" She was already pulling at the older man not even caring about how her youth might hurt one of the more advanced in years.
"Your zealous need to prove yourself in the boardroom my dear can wait till tomorrow. Leon and I were having an important conversation." He rarely had to wait for his children to understand one of his business related dismissals. They usually followed his orders on such matters. especially publicly.
"MoMo, It's past time we told him. I will not have another year go by without him knowing." Leon addressed Morgana strangely in some kind of more soothing and quiet tone. One that Uther was definitely not ok with.
"Arthur already took this year's spot. It's not fair to drop multiple things on him like this." Morgana protested.
"What's not fair darling is that you can't say yes to me until he knows, and you and Arthur have this game about only one thing to upset him a year."
Uther pinched the bridge of his nose. If the conversation going on around him was to be interpreted in a certain fashion, then Morgana's darling little angel most likely belonged to Leon, a man's Uther's age. He had known about her crush on the man back in her form school years but thought she had gotten over it and that he would never reciprocate it.
Uther forced a smile on his face while staring down Leon and Morgana. "Enough. Most of our clients are here enjoying themselves. We will discuss this later."
Uther needed a drink.
