The Quest for Camelot

Dec 23, 2009 00:36

I was wandering through merlin_finders  the other day, and decided I wanted to do for the Merlin fandom what linabean did for the SGA fandom with her found poem called, funnily enough, Found. Found poems are made by stealing phrases from another source and rearranging them into something poetic; the quotes below are all from merlin_finders, an incredibly useful place that is much ( Read more... )

Haha, I usually come to this tag over at delicious.com for recs. I probably will drop by at merlin_finders in the future :3

That is fabulous! You mastered the form. This captured the exuberance and enthusiasm that defines the Merlin fandom for me (and its pervasive adoration of Merlin/Arthur).

Aw, thank you! I wasn't originally aiming for this to be a Merlin/Arthur poem, actually, but it seems our fandom is slightly skewed in their favor. My favorite part is probably "Gen is also okay- as long as the pairing is Merlin/Arthur" because that just seems to sum everything up.

That's fabulous, and speaks to all of us, I'm sure. XD

(Also, my soul cries out for correction: Quest for Camelot is not Disney, but is a musical cartoon, and is often mis-labeled. It is a Warner Bros. movie.

Thumbelina and Anastasia also suffer, the poor dears. *hugs them all*)

Augh, can't believe I did that. The Swan Princess gets the short end of the stick too; barely anyone has heard of it because it's not one of Disney's. Someone should start a shelter for underappreciated and/or misattributed animated children's movies.

Psst, Quest For Camelot is not Disney. The animation isn't even good enough. Fun movie, yes, but i don't understand why people can't pay attention to credits.

Duly corrected, thanks. (I appreciate the irony of your icon, btw.)

I'll keep it simple: Someone should write the fic described in the verse following that line!!! Cause I just about died laughing while reading it and a full-fledged story would be a very Alice in Wonderland type of wonderful. ^_^

That would be excellent! I tried to pick all the most ridiculous plot points I could find, and I recognize a couple but most of them I can't even imagine what the original must be like. Together they would form something too awesome for this world.

Wouldn't they just?! It would take a truly talented writer, and I think someone not too cracky, to pull it off though. Cause if it was just all crack then it would lose its hilarity. I think it's that the whole thing (in your poem) seems like such an honest plea that makes it work...so it needs that element of sincerity and realism to it to make it truly brilliant...though complete crack would not be a bad thing either. :P Depends on how long you want to make it. Though I must say, a multi-chapter in depth story would be fanTAStic. ^_^
