I've started taking photos of my books so I know what I've got and where they're to go. I can hardly stand the thought of them all in boxes. I took about twenty pics this morning and there's still a long way to go. ( Book Pr0n )
Dornford Yates was a best seller for donkey's years so I'm guessing he was a book a year man. Some of those copies belonged to my mother and my aunt. The Berry books are certainly the ones I still enjoy; I found them screamingly funny when I was about twelve. The Chandos novels are rather sadistically violent for me these days. If you like whimsy, The Stolen March is for you; I find it a bit much.
I just hope the movers will be doing the packing Barbara or the pain will be physical too! Never mind - think how super they'll look in "the book chalet." Have bought and am enjoying the Morville Hours btw. Think you'll like it too if you haven't read it already. Remind me to bring it next time we can kaffee und kuchen in Wimborne.
No worries, I'm having the packing done to spare my nerves. I have to keep a very clear picture in my head of how nice things will be when they're sorted or I just want to give up, due to unreasonable demands by my buyers.
I've got The Morville Hours, thank you, although I haven't read it yet. I'm saving it up.
The Priest's House is putting on Victorian Teas this Saturday!
Oh, what gorgeous photos and how much I sympathise about not being able to bear to put them in boxes. Some of mine once lived in 'stacks' in some friends' attic for a few years, and I used to have to visit them regularly to reassure myself that they were OK.
They look splendid there and they will again soon in their new home, I'm sure. As we often say here, "Courage, mon brave!", which probably translates roughly as "Buck up, old bean!".
