A random collection of events and thoughts.

Funniest Arabic class ever today- the guy who's already sort of the class clown showed up drunk and very, very cheerful. Which resulted in a) him making a running commentary of randomness, b) a discussion of how to say "pimp" in Arabic, and c) him speaking in an insane combination of Arabic, English, and Spanish that was oddly similar to my home ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, there is no other female conductor coming for you too see.

Did you see all of the purple flowers in the courtyard of Cabell? They're so pretty. :-)

Yay post modern fairy tales. What brought that on?

Yeah, that's kind of annoying- I'll never know if it was just her.

And yes, and yes, they are. :-)

And I have no idea, but I think it's what I want to do.

You have better protests than we do, I think. :-)

And yes, we all know that She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is truly evil.

Thanks for letting me know- I edited it, and appreciate the correction. And yeah, I thought it was cool too- and it is sad, that people feel like they need to make that sort of statement. Make me glad that people are speaking up, though.

It may just be an ingrained thing...I've been under the baton of two female conductor. One I really liked. She was very spunky and knew a lot about music, but sort of spacey...maybe a little like Connie. The other was very jaded and when I told her that I wanted to be a musician, she basically warned me against it because I was in the back of the section (this was senior year). I didn't really like her that much...I dunno, so I'm sort of evened out. I've had one bad male conductor and the rest were great.

I guess that someone could have the opposite reaction by having great female conductors but not liking male conductors because of a past bad experience...I'm kind of like that, only with all math teachers. =P

I figure it kind of is an ingrained thing- like, just what I'm used to. It'd probably change if I worked with a female conductor I really liked. It just weirds me out a little that I have this paranoia.

Also, hahaha to the math teachers, I so totally know what you mean.
