So this happenedIf you have a subscription to Marie Claire, now might be a good time to cancel it. This is the most offensive thing I've seen come out of a women's magazine in a long time. Because there is nothing else remotely offensive on television to complain about these days...

Obviously it doesn't matter what sort of material is aired on tv as long as its done by thin people. Obviously!

That is RIDICULOUS. Even from a business standpoint; no one bothered to think of the number of their readers who might fall into this category?

At least the apology seemed to be genuine.

Yeah, that's the thing. I've been overweight all my life so I've heard this shit all my life. ALL. MY. LIFE. This is nothing new. It's the fact that it was done so blantantly and viciously on a forum such as this. I mean, even people who have never struggled with weight find that article offensive.

The apology doesn't fly with me, personally. It seems genuine only in the sense that she's sorry she put her foot in her mouth. The apology doesn't address the real problem. She understands that some people have a hard time losing weight because of medical problems and psychological problems? Ok, how about the people that aren't actively trying to lose weight because they are perfectly content with their bodies? They don't get an apology. They get no "points for trying." Apparently they still need to stay indoors. Her apology feigns concern for morbidly obese people and the possible physical/mental difficulties they face, but what she said was that watching an obese person CROSS A ROOM disgusts her, comparing them to heroin addicts.
