The apology doesn't fly with me, personally. It seems genuine only in the sense that she's sorry she put her foot in her mouth. The apology doesn't address the real problem. She understands that some people have a hard time losing weight because of medical problems and psychological problems? Ok, how about the people that aren't actively trying to lose weight because they are perfectly content with their bodies? They don't get an apology. They get no "points for trying." Apparently they still need to stay indoors. Her apology feigns concern for morbidly obese people and the possible physical/mental difficulties they face, but what she said was that watching an obese person CROSS A ROOM disgusts her, comparing them to heroin addicts.
